I remember a session I attended at TATA-AIG and the 'Spanco' theory that was explained to us by the Executives who motivated and encouraged us as fresher Insurance Agents. About 'Spanco' well, I will talk about it later but here's a book that comes to my mind for motivation.

If there isn't Motivation, however well you want TQM, it fails as psychologically needs is not fulfilled. Self esteem is hurt too. Aren't these wise words from a very wise man? Well, we all have our own challenging moments in life. Challenges come n go. Calamities too, come n go. We too, sail the boat of our life so as not to sink in deep circling waters. Harry Potter launches the book ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’ on 16th July, Midnight. 70 children who won in pre-competitions were invited for the Book Launch, who grandly rode on horse carriages, entered the Edinburgh castle where they met the multimillionaire Author J.K.Rowling. She read a chapter from the book and than gifted the signed copy and had a grand party with the kids.

In this book, Harry is focused on what really it means to life : family, friends and love and has been portrayed more mature who has emotional connections.



Masterpiece of Satanic deception – that’s what Harry Potter series is said to be by the Pastors of the church. The Bible, in Acts 19:19 says “Many of those who also used curious arts brought their books together and burned them before all men; and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.” And amazon.com is charging that and so are the Indian bookstores, I think. In 2001 and 2003, there are incidents of burning and cutting to pieces Harry Potter Books as Potter is a witchcraft and indeed inflicts the minds of the kids. The witchcraft theme do not jibe with the fundamentalist Christian teachings. Rowling has been the fourth most challenged Author of ‘Banned Books’ according to American Library Association from 1990 to 2004. These books do not have any moral lessons nor it says that lying and cheating are wrong.





Well, I run a children’s Library and encourage kids for reading but ugh oh, not Harry Potter! Though Harry Potter casts a spell in India, I do not believe in kids reading Harry Potter! Not that I am christian or ban the witchcraft but many kids cannot narrate nor write a review of simple story they read; they even cannot read Enid or Nancy Drew or Hardy boys nor Raold Dahl even though they buy from Bookstores like Crosswords! Those who can read are most exceptional kids I guess. Parents ever feel proud when they talk to me that their kids are reading Harry Potter but soon when they start attending my Library regularly, I find their flaws - they can't understand nor can they read the whole book!









Penguin Books India are the distributors in India and advance orders for the book were 125,000 copies.Leadings stores in Delhi & my town too reports of overwhelming response. So, I gather the copies are selling but hey, I wonder, why can't Indian bookstores held competitions like the below Book 'Harry Potter trivia n puzzles, etc.so that these books are really read?

Did you see 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'? The Jungle Book, Sound of Music...many more! Well, those were the great days of our life when kids movies were a craze! Yesterday, while watching a television show, what interested me most was the news on coming 15th July release of Tim Burton's 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory' with lead role by Johnny Depp as Willi Wonka. Here's the review of the story I read and told the kids who loved to dream of the Chocolate factory. Willy Wonka opens the gate of his Chocolate Factory to the five 'Lucky Winners' who finds the golden ticket wrapped in a Wonka Chocolate. Charlie is in for a big surprize in the end....You've got to see the movie with Kids!

Net Shopping's been 'The New Rage' recently as a Survey conducted by the Internet and Online Association of India shows 25 million Internet population are regular online shoppers.

-62% have shopped on the net for more than a year
-37% have started shopping online within the past one year
-67% gave tested shopping spree in last three months.

Now, an estimated 13% of the online Shopping community shops by using Credit Cards.
79% use the option of Cash on delivery, allowing greater comfort level in online transactions within the shopping populance. Books were the most sought after item on the net with 41% of the online population buying books during 2004-2005. It is noted that the major shoppers reside in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.




Well, now as per my knowledge, online shoppers are too reluctant to buy books at Amazon or any other Bookstores online! My report shows hardly any buyers of Books as sambhaav sells books 'In Association' to Amazon. Moreover, I feel that leaving a Credit card number is allowing the cyber crooks to get you hooked. The web is full of deceit! Dangers of online transaction is not new and recently, reports speak of a security breach at a US processing company which exposed more than 40 million credit card accounts to fraud. The security hole in the system got access to names, account numbers and card codes! CitiFinancial has also confessed that data on 3.9 million consumers has been 'misplaced'. The data stolen in the card system breach is eventually auctioned by Cyber crooks who put up hijacked accounts. Not to go more in details..If E-commerce has matured into Rs.1,180 crore Industry during 2004-2005, figures may speak varying in time to come or maybe more stringent cyber laws to be framed for safe surfing, safe shopping...what not!!!

Gone Rathyatra and the day winded up with yet another faith instilled in the minds of people. One of my friend went early in the morning at 5.00 for Darshan to Jagannath temple and when I met her at a friendly get-together at noon, I asked her if she knew why Rathyatra is celebrated. "No Idea", she beamed! And I recall my article on my small 'Research' done to know about Krishna, which even made me write about him and share it will all my readers here. The 34th verse of chapter 6 of Bhagwad Gita which specifically mentions that the individual self is the passenger in the chariot of the material body and the intelligence is the driver. Mind is the driving instrument and the senses are the horses. The self is thus the enjoyer or sufferer in the association of the mind and senses.

“ cancalam hi manah krsna pramathi balavaddrdham
tasyaham nigraham manye vayoriva suduskaram (34) (ch.6)

Intelligence is supposed to direct the mind, but the mind is so strong and obstinate that it often overcomes even one’s own intelligence. The mind is strong and obstinate and like one cannot capture the blowing wind, it is even more difficult to capture the turbulent mind. Hence, the easiest way to keep the mind in control is the chanting of ‘Hare krshna’, the great mantra for deliverance.

Now, as we see the terrorist threat round the globe, these people who spread terror with 9/11 or the London Disaster or Terrorist in Kashmir that spell terror, religion to them in name of Holy God or Allah or whatever is only an excuse to allow their Satan mind to perform tasks of hell. May god guide them to right path but one thing, I can't understand is that whenever 9/11 scare of London disaster is there, the whole world is active as if the hell is on earth but everyday in Kashmir and Iran-Iraq, we hear of Bombs & Terrorist kill, it's no concern to the whole world and passes off as a routine...How very Strange? When we see President Bush & Tony Blair speak the words of wisdom and Peace, it seems artificial! Is the world living under the threat of a Nostradamus prediction in future? Let's wait...

Yesterday, 6th July was the second Death Anniversary of Dhirubhai Ambani and as I pay my respects, its a tribute to a great personality who has created a void in India's corporate world has been a role model for many. He had special love for Gujarat and his life will continue to inspire every Gujarati entrepreneur living here and abroad. He also had been instrumental in according a special status to the share market which he had turned into a ‘people’s movement’ across the country. He believed in the preachings of Bhagwad Gita and was a true follower as a 'karmayogi'who had a strong determination and will power.

Well, here goes the Review of the great Religious Book and I am sure many gujaratis have read and adopted the preachings in their lives.

With over two dozen languages and more than five million hardbound copies in print, undoubtedly, Bhagvad Gita As it is by Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is the best selling and widely read classic in world literature. It reflects the main literary support for the great religious civilization of India, the oldest surviving culture in the world. This sacred book is well explained, easy to read with sanskrit shlokas well translated and pronunciations made easier. The subject of Bhagvad Gita entails the comprehension of five basic truths. First, science of god is explained and than the position of living entities, jivas. The living entity is controlled by the controller 'God head krsna' and the material nature 'prakriti' and time, the duration of existence of the whole universe and karma 'activity' are discussed. Finally, its god's wish and he makes or breaks the world! Bhagvad gita is written with 18 chapters - the conversation of krsna with Arjun as brief below:

1. Chapter One: Arjun gives up determination to fight at the battlefield of kuruksetra out of grief n pity when he sees his intimate relatives, teachers and friends in both armies ready to fight and sacrifice their lives.

2. Chapter Two: Krsna begins his teachings to Arjun and explains the distinction bet. the temporary material body and eternal spiritual soul. Characteristics of self realized person is explained.

3. Chapter Three: Karma Yoga i.e. one must engage in activity where actions can bind one to the world or liberate. Perform for the pleasure of god's will without selfish motives and attain transcendental knowledge.

4. Chapter Four: Transcendental knowledge, spiritual knowledge of the soul, of god and their relationship. Krsna explains history of Gita, purpose and significance of his periodic descents to the material world and the necessity of approaching a guru.

5. Chapter Five: Action performed and their fruits to attain peace, detachments, forbearance, spiritual vision and bliss.

6. Chapter Six: Controlling of the mind and senses and focus on concentration on god (lord is in heart)& explains the meaning of 'samadhi' full consciousness of supreme.

7. Chapter Seven: Knowledge of Absolute god. Krsna is the supreme truth and advanced souls surrender unto him in devotion.

8. Chapter Eight : Attaining the supreme god and remembering krsna in devotion whole life n at time of death, one can attain to his supreme abode, beyond material world.(This is one chapter that is always spoken in most Hindu families during ritual rites when someone dies)

9. Chapter Nine: The most confidential knowledge of bhakti - praying to godhead krsna.By reviving one's pure devotion, one returns to krsna in spiritual realm.

10.Chapter Ten: All power, beauty, grandeur or sublimity, in material or spiritual world are manifestation of krsna.

11.Chapter Eleven: Krsna grants Arjun the vision and reveals his form as cosmic universe and explains his own humanlike form is the original form of godhead and one can perceive only by pure devotion.

12. Chapter Twelve: Bhakti yoga to attain luv of krsna and they develop divine qualities.

13. Chapter Thirteen: Difference bet. body, the soul and supersoul beyond them both attains liberation from material world.

14. Chapter Fourteen:Souls are under the control of three modes i.e.qualities of material nature - goodness, passion and ignorance. How these modes act upon is well explained here.

15. Chapter Fifteen: Detaching oneself from material world and understand godhead. One who understand krsna surrenders to him and become devotional.

16. Chapter Sixteen: Difference of Divine and Demoniac nature is explained here. How to gain spiritual perfection.

17. Chapter Seventeen: Three types of faith evolving from three modes of material nature. Acts performed by those who have faith in passion and ignorance yield only impermanent, material results whereas acts performed in goodness, lead to pure faith in krsna.

18. Chapter Eighteen: The concluding part which explains the meaning of renunciation and effects of the modes of nature on human consciousness and acitivity. Surrendering to god which frees one from sins, bring enlightenment and be eternal spiritual mode.

Krsna says in Gita:

"Aham sarvasya prabhavo, Mattah sarvam pravartate
Iti matva bhajante mam, Budha bhava samanvitah"

Meaning "I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in my devotional service and worship me with all their hearts"

So, if you have read Bible or Koran or any religious book, Bhagvad Gita is a choice 'Absolute'to read about the 'Absolute Godhead' After all, God is a mystery and nobody ever knows who the real person is otherwise I feel, there would be no wars and only peace on earth if Bhagvad Gita Mahima (krsna's sayings) is followed by humans. A sure Pick.

Dream Big and You Can Do It! This mantra seems to work great for many Corporates and no exception is Ahmedabad based Pankaj Patel, chairman and Managing Director of Zydus Cadila. As the news reported earlier, Zydus outlined an expenditure of Rs 25 crore for the expansion of its Ahmedabad unit a year ago. By 2007,the Company expect 40 per cent sales to come from exports. His dreams of making Zydus a Billion dollar multinational firm by 2010 has seen him acquire a company in France,US, South Africa, Brazil and has his marketing offices in many countries.

No wonder, Pankaj Patel appears in Forbes 40 Richest Indians, 2004!

He was also awarded the Best Pharma Man of 2004.

What impress me the most is that Pankaj Patel is home loving Amdabadi. His love for Ahmedabad is palpable as he says in an Interview that Ahmedabad has a nice and planned development. The city is becoming a better place to live. He even prefers *Shopping' in home town and spends his vacations with his family in India.

This is a real Treat for all of us. At functions, a casual glance of Pankajbhai would not reveal what he possess or wears or what he thinks. But cool, when his mom speaks in an interview in sambhaav metro that he's a devoted and caring son, sure one can feel the person within who has the strong determination and will to Believe in self and Believe in the things he can do! It's an Inspiration and I guess, such Interviews of CMDs will definately encourage the upcoming new generation Management Youth!

India's mobile phone users may almost quadruple to 200 million by the end of 2007 says India's phone services regulator. It is presumed Reliance Infocomm will have 100 million subscribers, or about 40 percent of India's total market, in less than five years. Well, but its quite obvious Infocomm may have to tap the equity markets very soon to continue funding the growth of the company!

The Ambani issue has been the longest and fierce battle that shook the Corporate India and as the death Anniversay of Dhirubhai Ambani is nearing on July 6, here's a split - Anil Ambani gets his share of Reliance Infocomm, Reliance Energy and Reliance Capital whereas Mukesh bags Reliance Industries & IPCL. Recently I read in newspapers 'Car rental launched at city Airport'. Now NRIs and people coming to Ahmedabad and landing up at The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Domestic and International Airport need not be happy about it. The car rental facility may boast that passengers don't need to dread the ride to your destination in a rickety autorickshaw or a run-down cab but what about the other facilities? Recently, in a fortnight, twice I happened to see off cousins to US and Gosh, I would rate Ahmedabad's International Airport as worst ever for passengers travelling in and out of town! The Airport authorities are not courteous and do not even care for the waiting passengers who stand in so hot weather in long queue alongwith their luggage, relatives and friends and this making a big commotion, before they are finally allowed to enter through a small door! Moreover, no proper seating facilities nor any proper place for refreshments till one waits for the passenger to arrive or leave. Moreover, people have to be patient to catch the plane as they're almost late and imagine, one of our friends who reached airport at 10.00 night was able to board the plane to US only in the morning at 5.30!!! The Ahmedabad International Airport totally lacks management and when people broke the queue and started shouting, I happened to talked to Mr. Anil Kumar, Airport Security and he said "People are to be blame for this" Is it? One wonders!!! Rathar 'Wanders' !

It's the IIFA Awards and I just had a glimpse on Television. Here's my fav - Sharukh Khan, who won the best male actor in a leading role award, gives his acceptance speech at the 2005 International Indian Film Academy Awards in Amsterdam, Netherlands on Saturday, June 11, 2005.

Veer Zara swept with six Awards! One award was for for Music Director Madan Mohan. I recall the songs of this movie and they are well great numbers by Madan Mohanji who left this world to leave memories of his music through Veer Zara. His son, Sanjeev Kohli who re-created Madan Mohan's tunes for the film, paid a sentimental tribute to his father, who in spite of being a powerhouse of talent, never won a popular award during his lifetime.

Many more awards and you can read them on main site but for now, I would say, hey I play keyboards but can never set the song 'Tere liye hum bhi jiye....' coz I think the song is so emotionally sung and the music score is fantastic that its so hard to concentrate on the keys! Just day before, our CM Narendrabhai Modi celebrated Gujarat Government 'Achievement' at the well known Rajpath Club. The event was organised to felicitate Narendra Modi and his Cabinet by Rajpath & Karnavati Club managed by Mr.Girish Dani & N.G.Patel respectively.



Now, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, headed by Sonia Gandhi, has adjudged Narendra Modi’s Gujarat as the Number 1 state in economic freedom index.A study ‘Economic Freedom for States of India’ carried out by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies, the foundation’s think-tank, has come to this conclusion after analysing “economic freedom” in different states of India. The RGF report, released on May 21, describes Gujarat as a safe, peaceful state for business owing to low levels of economic offences and corruption, also praises the state’s decision-making. It puts Gujarat ahead of Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Jharkhand in speedy police investigation.

At Rajpath lawns, hours after the Advani resignation, Narendrabhai maintained a studied silence on the Advani issue except that he was proud of Gujarat achievements and thanked his own team and people of gujarat who supported him. Spotted were the Industry big shots - Yeah, of coz me too;-)But well, two VHP Sadhus were spotted in front seats and I wonder what they were doing there! Now, known for a penchant for political mischief making, Narendra Modi who had earlier referred Sonia Gandhi as 'Italy ki Beti' thanked the Cong.President for bestowing laurels on his government for its good work and had fullsome praise. However,his speech had skipped unaware two sentences "Those people who criticize Modi Government had to give the credits and they realised this and gave the RGF Award" Well, well, I think Narendrabhai has a hard time all the time to show Gujarat Achievements and no wonder, Narendra Modi has proved excellence in governance. It's high time he makes less speech flaws inspite that he's great Orator, to brush off his bad image.

Now, I did hear somebody mention Narendrabhai as a unique combination of Loh Purush and Vikas Purush.One wonders, Can Modi inherit LKA's hardliner mantle? Advani has always brought good news for him, be it standing beside riots or recent rebel of visa issue. Let's wait and watch as I wish Narendrabhai Modi & his government 'All the Best'.

June 5 and the Ministry of Environment & Forests (Govt.of India) announces the World Environment Day with Green Cities: Plan for the Planet! Gandhiji said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." Hence, I guess with the poor air quality when approximately 2 million children under five, die each year from acute respiratory infections, calling for Green cities is a bright idea. Not only bright, a wise step! While television personality Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai mentioned that there is rampant insensitivity and trivialisation of issues which signalled the need for a Lakshman Rekha. He quipped that while editors are lobbying to get Rajya Sabha seats, marketing managers are making news decisions. The chairman of the Press Council of India, Justice J.N. Ray, said that the media had not only shied away from constituting a regulatory authority.

Now, what I feel is about 'Bias' - well,liberal Bias infuse bias reporting in network television and trigger hindrance to reporting facts. Issues ranging from homelessness to aids, reporters are going over the misinformation of pressure groups they favor, to the harm of honest reporting. Fairness, balanced and integrity disappeared with changing times in network television. There has been one-sided nature of reporting of the news coverage tilting to the left which is close minded and journalists honesty have become pawn to liberal opinion. Political correctness in network television creates a sensation ahead of the facts and enthusiasm of the reporters mis-fires the message, often misleading the viewers to create waves over the issue. An example is the Riots of Gujarat, the whole print and television media journalists focused on the one major issue and harp over the incidents to raise the heat of news reporting. Balance reporting fell out of gear and the news that shoot and create waves chart to the top and the biggest scoop story of the time would probably not be heard in the evening news. The bias really affect on how people view to see the world!

It's indeed true, as Mr. Akbar says that the seventh sin is ignorance which is strongly prevalent among the new generation of journalists! Awareness is Lacking most of the time!

Bins told me that I missed out updating on Mother's Day. Well, now I thought that it's like a herd mentality. When someone does something, the other adopts. The return of Tobey Maguire with Spiderman 2 is thrill to watch on a big screen keeping high on adrenaline as well as emotions as the web slinger makes sure that justice must triump over vindictiveness. This reminds of many Comic characters and how they were created! Stan Lee created the cartoon character Spiderman 40 years ago over protests from his superiors at Marvel Comics. As far as I know, Now 79, Lee no longer works on the Spiderman comics. By inventing a nerdy Peter Parker and giving him a secret life as angst-ridden super hero, Lee brought new sophisticational and emotional depth to what had been considered a child's genre.This movie has a heart and technical artistry alongwith the subtle allusions to the 9/11 devastation, the imaginative set designs, the astounding computer generated stunts and crackerjack tempo that keeps one engrossed. The young new yorker Toby maguire may possess incredible powers but still can't declare his feelings to the love (kirsten Dunst) of his life. Although, she is engaged to be married to an astronaut, he's hopelessly tongue tied. And than a lunatic scientist (Alfred) equipped with lethal tentacles must be vanquished before it is too late. Save the city and somehow win the girl's heart form the double agenda of the always do-well Spiderman. Four days off from the world wide web and its been a pleasant and wonderful experience for me to see the RKB (Rajiv K. Bajaj) Sahara show with the so serene and suave 'Shammi Kapoor'. I do have my own Inspirational Role model in Music and fond of Hindi & western movies. Therefore, slip off to be glued to my Television set and ban the net sometimes. Believe me, this is a great change for the net surfer stress syndrome!



Seeing an Interview was out of a different world coz Shammi Kapoor left an impression at the end of a show which really did leave a message for all of us to learn. He been cool and composed as he dig into the past memories of his life and as he spoke, he left the viewers to pass through all the moods - happy, thoughtful, dreamy, concerned, worried, sad, helpless, passionate, hopeful.....and so on....! RKB had the mixed bag of questions and I guess, this would be his memorable interview. Shammi Kapoor seemed an intelligent, well learned, practical and a god fearing person who passed through a lot of ups and downs, a person who experienced Life in every original form. His expressions left marks that any person would love to respect him and keep interacting for hours. And wasn't he the one who was used Mac and still does,who got a first car - a convertible Buick (second hand) and a person who sang romantic songs in movies - yet today, yeah, it's a dream for us too to see and believe that he is the same person! He talked of his guru whom he did not wish to meet yet circumstances made him see him and lo, he got clad in the saffron and rudraksh! I guess it's the Power of Meditation and we miss out these things with the urban lifestyles.

The Invisible CEO By Krish



Last friday, I went for the Launch of the book 'The Invisible CEO' by A.G. Krishnamurthy at Crosswords, Ahmedabad. As many of you know, A G. Krishnamurthy has been the founder chairman and managing director of Mudra Communications and he began the agency with a start-up capital of Rs.35,000 and one client. In just nine years, Mudra became India’s third and largest Indian advertising agency. Krish won Mudra many Awards but uh oh, the management changed soon after Dhirubhai Ambani passed off. Krish soon became a Consultant for Reliance Infocomm at Bombay as far as I know and simultaneously, he started AGK Brand Consulting in Hyderabad. The Book turns out to be a deep reflection and thoughts of a person who led Mudra and whose his memories roll back to the past with his experiences of his entire career. Like Mr. Atul Tandan said at the Launch, Krish speaks so fast that we have to ask him to repeat to understand as when he speaks, his thoughts are ahead of his speech and sure, I agree as when he spoke, I could never understand and always made typing mistakes and got firing. For three hundred years, religion has been losing its territory continuously. First, it attempted to destroy science. It possessed the domains of the world near and far. Like science proves and adds to the facts, religions try to prove they are right. Religion is defensive and in the name of God, faith exists but far too long, we have been hating and fighting. Its time to tackle real issues and build a temples to tolerance, understanding and love. War is violence. Violence rear violence to crush humanity. Humans have possessed a nature to destruction losing the control of the mind as egoism surfaces up. Common people crave for peace and have raised concerns to spread the message but it’s in the air deep rooted with differentiates with greed, corruption, beliefs and their protests go unheard by the so-called saviours of the nation.It is utter failure as who created the world doesn’t matter. All matters is who governs with a chaos leadership quality!

Isn't this so true - exactly when we talk of peace; when two buses on 7 April were flagged for journey by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pervez Musharraf who created such a historical moment with the bus between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad and the peace action begins. Now is the test trial of these very leaders to maintain peace. But,I hear President Musharraf and Dr. Wen Jao were signing a Defence Pact in Islamabad. Now, against whom is the Defence Pact visualized to be used? When the world has forgotten about SEATO and NATO, what was the need for a new Defence Pact in this part of Asia? Only the politicians know, anyways!

Farewell to the Holy Father 'Pope John Paul II'



A few minutes ago, I been watching the live funeral of the Holy father and emotions stir to see a great soul depart! Somehow why, but I do remember a hindu saint Shree Dongre maharaj who spoke Bhagwad when I was a kid. I guess Faith is in our hearts.

Well, thousands bid Farewell to Pope John Paul II as the funeral service held in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, Friday April 8, 2005. Royalty, political power brokers and multitudes of the faithful came to pay their last respects to the pontiff, at a funeral promising to be one of the largest Western religious gatherings of modern times. May the good Lord God Grant him Eternal Peace.

The church has lost its light! Though I am not a Christian, I believe in the religion since my childhood. I have deep appreciation for the pope's mission to bring peace to the world.He preached the ideal to which all humans should strive.He denounced communism, consumerism, capitalism and every kind of corruption in human soul. He has left an indelible mark in human history. He will be remembered as a political pope who stood for the rights of the victims of hate, war and oppression. He presented the person of Jesus to the entire world and made Jesus relevant. He was never afraid to say what he wanted to say. His loyalty was to God alone.John Paul believed in a faith that could move mountains and believed in miracles. We could only pray to god, may his soul rest in peace.

* Embody the values

Debbie learns whatever is needed to be a good leader, analyze her progress with examples, excercises and tips. In process with Debbie's example, Ken Blanchard has made successful attempt to teach the Leadership Lessons to all successful as well as troubled and failed Leaders. The Book provides a guide to solve problems that seem complex and make it easier with the concepts clear - A choice to Serve. Not always I guess, because while Serving too without being self-served, the Leader becomes a struggler if the Company policies and the Boss Attitude and vision is not focused. Sometimes wavelengths do not meet. However, based on the author's experience and drawn from examples of best leaders, this book gives an insight to improve upon one's own abilities and in serving others, tackle the situations with ease without struggling lamely. Ken Blanchard's experience speaks in volumes. A good Pick.

You think that US is trying to draw India into its global strategic plans by asking New Delhi to join the missile defence system? Do India and Pakistan need any more hi-tech, exorbitantly priced weapons for each other? Aren’t the nuclear bombs and missiles sufficient?





Well, US offers the F-16 Fighter planes but it might adversely have an impact on Indo-Pak relations. It seems to be a game of the Bush administration as clear as it intended to draw India into a strategic military relationship just as Pakistan had been involved in one for decades. CPM Politburea says "The fuelling of arms race between India and Pakistan with the sale of sophisticated weaponry to both countries suits the US interests perfectly as well as providing a good market for its arms manufacturers". Whatever be it, a game plan or a power sale, its upto to the Government to accept or refuse the Offer of US!

Security threats? Nope, I am not talking about the security threats of CM who cancelled his UK visit but Web Security. Symantec found 17000 different types of viruses and worms as of 31st December. This means up 64 per cent from mid year! One of the fastest growing threat is from 'phishing' attacks which lure people to websites that appear to be owned by banks or other firms and dupe them into giving passwords, credit card numbers or other key information. Phishing...a growing serious problem and threat to exposure of confidential information. Many of these viruses are Trojan horses that install a programme that allows hackers to remotely access a computer and find passwords or monitor key strokes. Emails have virus threats but increasing is 'phishing' and attacks on servers and web applications.

Now, I read these two books long back and wrote the reviews. I share these with my readers. But believe me, Net isn't a safe place when it comes to buying on the Internet and for sure, this has always been my Tech read. You never know who's the prying eyes watching you from Hell (Or heaven? god knows!)



A chance glance read,'Google Hacks' at a local Bookstore, this one's not the cup of tea for a casual surfer. If one is an HTML expert and excel in scripting language, here's a pick and a cool read. It helps trying new ways to innovate, charges a hacker for productive and constructive use of web enhanced applications. I have a Google Developer Key for 'sambhaav' but never really knew how to use it and this book has tremendous info on the API application. Web Developers would benefit greatly with this book, no doubt, with tips on how to build and modify scripts that can be custom based application on google. This book, not for surfers or casual web designers like me but who indeed aware of Programming and using codes n scripts n perl n xml n what not! Google is an ultimate research tool and a great search engine with good ad words links I like - my fav nex to 'yahoo' search and sure, my websites feature top with key words 'net newspaper for kids' and sure, you find all stars. Google Hacks - a great read for all Web Developers.





Recently I heard the Al Zazira website being hacked! Kewl!!! I wonder, was the Firewall system so poor of such a big website? Picking up this one, Hacking Exposed reveals how high profile sites and e commerce sites are penetrated. The book has endless Network security details and provides indepth knowledge of Operating systems, network applications and devices. Though it may motivate to educate Hackers, this book if seen on positive side, helps one to understand the security flaws in general that occur to hinder the website performances. System Administrators and Top Net Executives need to read the books to get 'Security Alert' & safeguard their interest to prevent any vulnerability. Administrative procedures help defeat from hack attacks to systems and counter measures make it ineffective.Techniques to hacking are exposed and breaking into telephony, firewalls systems etc. the various topics covered up.The Book Exposes what's really happenning on Network - Though for a common surfer its just a passing read but very useful to Tech buffs and interesting read to students who would be interested to know the way of the Wizard Networking. In Process of reading, one gets to be aware of how to use Hacking software but to the defensive point to take measures to point of protection. Normally not much into Technical reading, I recommend this book as a very good piece if you really wanna know the 'Hack Game' - Enjoy the Read!

It seems that in the case of CM Narendra Modi's visa refusal, the anti Narendra modi NRIs has played a major role - Namak ka karz chuka rahe hai! On the other hand big shots seem to be goofing around that Apna sikka hi khota hai phir US ko kya kehna! Mixed Opinions, diverse feelings! Well, well, the case of Visa refusal stands as an 'Insult' to the Sovereignty of the nation, US has persistently showed its 'Super Power' and definitely, this isn't an Individual issue but every Indian need to rise and say 'I am an an Indian and Proud to be an Indian' instead of allowing the Americans to make internal wars for which, they are super natural! Anyways, finally our Mr. Narendrabhai is going to UK and again, his past is like the 'Black Friday' as anti campaigns have started. Is there ever a word 'Forgiveness'- Mr. Papa Bush can only say this!

It's the nick of hour to Stop Kids from Crime, Stop them to be Criminals! An Italian Criminologist, Cesare Lombrose theorized that most criminals arise mainly from environmental conditions such as urban pressures, poverty and a poor home life. Kids, especially Teenagers who are negativistic, destructive, aggressive and delinquent have strong influence on others trapped under their unhealthy murkiness attitude. Crime is everywhere and so is corruption. The Mob frenzy in Gujarat Riots, directly or indirectly made many kids the victims of Crime. Let the Community flare influence last no long as they tremble in fear, shatter their faith and live in a state of anxiety with the environmental influence upon them. Let there be the right Parental influence, after all! Built the Pillars of character with No Political Influences!!!

CM Narendra Modi spoke to an Indian-Americans audience over satellite telling them that a "disinformation campaign" was being launched to malign India. Modi asked Indians living in that country to act as ambassadors to counter the propaganda being launched by certain motivated groups having vested interests in defaming India. To a question on the visa denial issue from a participant in the US, Modi said "I have no reaction. I believe only in action".




And here comes the Action....!

The US is reconsidering the denial of visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, a leading Congressman and founder of India caucus group Frank Pallone said today. He said he would work to get Modi's visa restored."If there is difference of opinion, there should be a dialogue and not attempt to shut out a view point," Pallone said at a meeting convened by the Association of Indian Americans of North America. Modi addressed the meeting via satellite from Gandhinagar after he was denied the US visa. "The US government is reconsidering the case," he said adding, however, that he is not sure about the outcome. Pallone also stressed on the need for India to ensure that it maintains its secular character, saying that religious fundamentalism, whether Christian, Muslim or Hindu, has no place in the modern world.

No wonder, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at his address of 'Bharat Swabhimaan Rally' organised by the BJP here on the issue said, "I am not warning USA. But they should not forget that the frail looking Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi shook the foundation of the Britishers because of the insult". Any resemblance to Gandhiji?

Osho said ‘If politicians disappear, there is no need for nations’ and if we think over this we do have a say here that ‘If politicians wish to make this world a paradise, sure it is in their hands – just they have to Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached like Swami Vivekanand said! But, afterall, in the first instance the goal is to be set in the right direction as where there is no vision, the people perish!

The recent Anti-CM Narendra Modi campaign is on 'Hate-Group' List getting him into Visa trouble. As more than 2000 people signed the Petition, all reminds is one of my articles on Politicians. Gosh, Should say, these people are real Orators!

The message is clear with the Pill Techniques that Leadership skills come with experience and is not an overnight success (a quick dose of pill formula don't work that heightens the leader's powers!) The book is in parable form of competition of two leaders with different management styles. A supporting, inspiring and motivating Leader can bring out the best with right ingredients of integrity, affirmation and partnership. There aren't quick solutions with pill technique but leadership skills require thoughtful implementations to encourage team spirits for successful results. Day to day workplace situation requires trust and respect and it is well spread a message by the authors to Leaders, as how to gain the team's confidence to derive positive and profitable results. The Book is great read and itself serve as power pill with right ingredients. A nice read & well focused on leadership skills.

Sambhaav Metro, Afternoon News Tabloid from Sambhaav Newspapers, Launched on March 12, 2005. The Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Culture, Shri S. Jaipal Reddy Launched 'Sambhaav Metro' alongwith Mr. Digvijaysinh, (Former CM, Bhopal), Mr. Jagdish Tytler, (Minister of State), Shaktisinh Gohil, Himmatsinh Patel and others. At a later function in the Evening, Mr. Narendra Modi, CM, Gujarat presided over the Launch celebration alongwith Mr. Amit Shah, Home Minister, Gujarat. The function was also graced with the presence of Mr. Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group, Mr. T.R.Chavla, Dena Bank, GM, Mr. Girish Dani and many more.



Mr. Narendra Modi, CM said, "Ahmedabad lacked an Afternoon Newspaper and Sambhaav Group has indeed taken a courageous step to reach updated news to people on the same day." Mr. Modi further commented, "In earlier days, newspaper copy was read fully and people use to preserve it. So,its the responsibility of the Journalists friends to come out with a copy with informative contents that is thoroughly read and do not end up in 'Dust bin' after half an hour.

Well, It is noteworthy that the Online edition of Sambhaav was the first Gujarati Newspaper online and now, the print 'Afternoon Newspaper' also, Sambhaav Metro is pioneer. Launching "Sambhaav Metro"

Sambhaav Group of Newspapers has decided to relaunch the broadsheet newspaper as a tabloid,Afternoon Newspaper, named "Sambhaav Metro".Mr. Narendra Modi, the CM will preside to grace the function and Launch 'Sambhaav Metro' in Ahmedabad on 12th March 2005. “The Sambhaav Metro will be a tabloid sized newspaper with 24 pages, which can be raised to 48. It will be priced at Re.1/-. To begin with, the newspaper will be launched with a circulation of between 50,000 and one lakh copies,” says Bhupatbhai Vadodaria, Editor of the Sambhaav Group. 18 years ago, on March 12, Sambhaav was launched in Ahmedabad. The new newspaper will have the latest news, will cover a variety of subjects, special stories and the likes. The new venture is also expected to have a lot of city news and have features such as book review, lighter reading material and an interactive session where noted personalities reply to queries of readers. There are more than three pages allocated to business with primary focus on the trading community. There would be pages on women's interests and on spirituality too.



The online website sambhaav will continue with the news and other features as usual. It is expected that due to print changes, the online readers might face font problems for a short while till we come out with the web font conversion. International Womens Day and the honor confers upon me as an 'Outstanding Journalist' - Awarded by my Community 'Kadva Patel Parivar Trust and Mahila Vikas' who celebrated IWM & Mahila Kranti Abhiyaan Year 2005 on occasion of their Silver Jubilee in Ahmedabad. (The women's wing of this community is run by Sushilaben Amin & Kalaben Amin, Ahmedabad who are actively involved in bringing great social reforms. They plan to bring Patels worldwide in September to unite them all.)
This is a moment of joy for me as I get this honor but more a moment of Inspirations. Inspirations and encouragement from the people I know and with whom we walk past our life. It would be great big list of people to mention here so instead I opt to say that I always exercise six D's of faith: Power to Decide, courage to dare, energy to do, will power to be determined, grace to be dedicated and patience to be diligent. Growing Importance of Blog is confirmed in a Survey conducted by: Pew Internet and American Life.By the end of 2004 blogs had established themselves as a key part of online culture. Two survey Project in November established new contours for the blogosphere: 
-8 million American adults say they have created blogs; 
-blog readership jumped 58% in 2004 and now stands at 27% of internet users; 
-5% of internet users say they use RSS aggregators or XML readers to get the news and other information delivered from blogs and content-rich Web sites as it is posted online; and 
-12% of internet users have posted comments or other material on blogs. 
-Still, 62% of internet users do not know what a blog is!

Kuch toa huva hai, kuch ho raha hai……



No Dream, FM’s Budget is for ‘Real’. Rated ‘Outstanding’. One thing is sure that increased thrust on education, agriculture and infrastructure could contribute to higher rate of long term economic growth and increased employment. As most of the readers must have read on our main sambhaav site, I think the Budget waves a magic wand to evoke mixed opinions and especially the announcement of 0.01% tax on withdrawal of Rs.10,000/- in cash in a single day, stumps all. A tax on Honesty! How about more dumping of legal cases in trash box waiting to be solved with Cheque Bounces? Isn’t this Budget Sugar with Spice? Sweet smelling Roses with thorns! I noticed that the Budget has been anti-farmer too – more benefits for upper class but nothing much for farmers and labourers. Mixed Opinions, mixed reactions but one thing is commendable – ‘the fairer sex’ has magic spell on our Union Finance Minister. Reduction of excise duty on imitation jewellery, elimination of custom duty on cooking gas and raising the threshold exemption tax limit for women, FM’s been devoted to female gender. Whew! P. Chidambaram’s wife did mention to a news reporter earlier that ‘Shobha De finds my FM husband ‘most sexiest’ man in India”. And woww, the whole race gets the slice:-)

Lastly, did I mention ‘Amaru Amdavad’? (For NRIs, well its Amaru America and Apnu Amdavad) The FM has announced labeled it as ‘Mega City’. The big surprise came when Mr. Chidambaram mentioned Ahmedabad in line with Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkatta while passing Grants. Whoaaa….now don’t ever dare to call our CM Mr. Narendra Modi, a hypocrite. Unki nazar NRIs pe hai par dil hai Gujarati and yeah, he proves from various angles that he cares for Amaru, Apnu Amdavad. Leave behind the grudges of the past – whatever past may be, may be…..The future is ours – Do You Believe?

The PM’s all praise for the Railway Budget and contrary to the general reaction, most industry and business organizations have hailed Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s R Budget as ‘Customer friendly’. Lalu’s speech has turned poetical as he says, “Sirf hungama khara karna mera maksad nahi, meri koshish hai ki ye surat badalni chahiye” and as he touched the subject of modernization, by 2010, he dreams trains would run at 150 kmph with his modernization plan costing around Rs.24,000 Crores! Now one wonders, Can Indian Leaders ever dream? And if they do, would their dreams turn true? Whatever will be, will be, The future is ours to be.......! Did I mention 'Puppet on a string' Well, let there be less wit and more poetry in Lalu's speech but a sure appealing to unemployed! Full Concession in Second Class!
