Join Ahmedabad Book Club - Meet Ankit Trivedi

I know, this is my most unupdated blog. No Excuses as it is quite known that Social Networking is the most convenient connexion through smart phones. However, I do state that Blogging has its own charm when you wish to write and place contents on the web. Information is the key to success, I guess. And, in the rush of our routines and everyday busy schedules with adopting the gadgets, life is beautiful yet, we are missing and losing the quest for knowledge.

Anyways, you can always follow me on www.kidsfreesouls.com and this is an ongoing writing corner for me on the world wide web.

I am aware of many Gujarati Poets and Literature lovers on the web and for them, this is news that Priyanshi Patel (Sambhaav Family) is running Ahmedabad Book Club in our city. The sessions are all focused on Sharing Knowledge and a platform where like-minded Book lovers meet, interact and share knowledge. There are Poets, Authors and Experts in many field who come and share their expertise and ABC is happy to provide a platform to all who love Books - Poetry and Literature or say, anything related to Books.

ABC in association to Coffee Mates has organized an upcoming Session on Poetry by Ankit Trivedi at Gujarat Sahitya Parishad premises on 21st September 5-7 p.m. ABC gives 'Open Invitation' to all to attend the Event. Recently, Mihir Gajrawala, an active member of ABC puts this post :

'Poetry' - the word has certain connotation, a connotation of it being 'other worldly', or 'not for me' or 'jhabbha-thela walo' or 'cant understand' etc etc. (for many if not all). On the other hand, I see that most 'language' consumption (apart from routine functional communication) happens in form of verse!!
#1 : music and songs : of whatever language we all consume everyday are verses
#2 : all of us irrespective of our faith, if are praying , those prayers (most of them,if not all) are verses.
almost 90% of ancient indian documentation is in the form of verses. Shlokas, Gaatha, dohas, mantra etc. are all forms of poetry.almost 90% of ancient indian documentation is in the form of verses. Shlokas, Gaatha, dohas, mantra etc. are all forms of poetry.Knowing this, it seems that poetry is a powerful medium to communicate thoughts and given its vast presence all around, it is a preferred medium too. To me it seems somewhere our ability to comprehend a verse is dented, or may be we just feel a repulsion, inspite of we ourselves being its consumer as described above.
Given this context, it is applause worthy that many are still trying to comprehend it and also trying to create new poetry to express themselves. Even if it does not strictly fall under the popular culture space.
It will be great to discuss the above and hear one of the contemporary exponent of vernacular poetry Ankit Trivedi in the upcoming ‪#‎Coffeemates‬and Ahmedabad Book Club session this sunday. I am looking forward to it and I suggest fellow book club members to make most of this session. It would be great to have interactions within us on the said topic.sunday 21.9.14 / Sahitya parishad / 5 to 7 pm.
Well, Enjoy this poetry. A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns has been translated to Gujarati language by Dr. Vivek Tailor - Feel the mother tongue, a language so sweet and lyrical, rhymed. Join ABC upcoming session to feel the flow of the words and understand what Gujarati Poetry is by Ankit Trivedi.
જે જુનમાં ખીલે છે નવોનવો;
એટલો ગળાડૂબ છું હું પ્રેમમાં;
અને સૂર્ય પીગાળી દે સહુ ખડકોને;
અને હું રજા લઉં છું થોડી વાર માટે;

A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns
O my Luve is like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve is like the melody
That’s sweetly played in tune.
So fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.
Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only luve!
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my luve,
Though it were ten thousand mile.
