"Thou Brave, be One! Behold, take courage, be proud that thou art an Indian and Proudly proclaim “I am an Indian. Every Indian is my fellow mate”, said Swami Vivekanand.

As I proudly remember the days of Flag Hoisting at School Independence Day, it had been great singing the National Anthem. After a long time, I played the song on my Keyboard and lo, the 4th std. students who attended my Library-English sessions didn't even know the words properly!!! I wonder, do the NRIs teach their kids our Independence song?

Well, here's the India Independence Song 'Jana Mana Gana' in different versions and also Download it on your computer and sing along the tune:-) Enjoy.

I wish all readers 'Happy Independence Day' (15th August). One thing that is noteworthy that Jawaharlal Nehru gave his memorable speech of freedom 'Tryst with Destiny' as Indians rejoiced but Mahatma Gandhiji who fought for Freedom alongwith many freedom fighters, was in Kolkata. Saddened by the Partition of the country, he spent the day fasting and in prayer.
