Getting into the Spirit of Peace, Harmony and Progress….Happy Diwali & Prosperous New Year

The spirit of celebration is the same every year. But this year, what has changed is the way now Gujaratis are celebrating the festival of lights with Sadbhavana. A way of simplicity - to live together in peace and harmony. Diwali has now become a joyous, multicultural observance in Gujarat, in which people of all religion - faith join in.

In that spirit, I invite you to light a ‘Sadbhavana’ Diya for this Diwali and spread our message of peace, harmony and progress with faith in your heart and love for Gujarat.

As we celebrate the triumph of ‘Good over Evil’, it all started as a way to celebrate Lord Rama’s return on vanquishing Ravana. And centuries later, it still gives us a reason to light up the darkness – Spreading sunshine into the lives of 6 crore Gujaratis and scattering the rays of hope to people of the nation. Gujarat, a hope for a better India, is a role model to other states, reaching crescendo with its development journey.

Gujarat leads to a bright future with every citizen joyfully celebrating the festival with spiritual fervor. These spiritual qualities over-ride the basic instincts, intellect and ego. The light of the soul can transform baser qualities of greed, distrust and hatred into selfless giving, trust and helpfulness. It inspires us to be consistent in our efforts to progress on the path of truth to enlighten and illuminate the lives of people of Gujarat. And, it has revealed to us our true ‘Identity’ as enriched souls, living and growing in the great school of earthly experience. It’s the time to shrug off hate, anger and bitterness. It’s the time to illuminate the diyas to flicker the flame of Progress.

It is a timeless civilization with an eternal quest for the light of Knowledge which is embodied in our spiritual texts. As Rig Veda quotes:

Asato Maa,
sad gamaya
Tamaso Maa,
Jyotir Gamaya
Mrityor Maa,
Amritam Gamaya
Aum Shanti Shanti Shanti…

We pray, God lead me by giving me knowledge (from the unreal to the real),

From darkness (of ignorance) to the light (of Knowledge), from death (limitation) to the immortality (liberation).

Ten years ago, we lived in darkness. Gujarat lived in a world terrorized by violence and deceit, corruption and cunning fundamentalism and atrocity. The years 1986-85 are unforgettable and resound in painful grief. The government endeavored to exorcise the ghosts of the past and forge in a new world of understanding, hope, love, brotherhood, harmony and peace. As far as we experience, there has been no kind of violence or curfew, no communal unrest as we live in peace in Guajrat.

The Literacy ratio gets higher in Gujarat. The Literacy rate in Gujarat has seen upward trend and is currently 79.31% as per the 2011 Population census. Of that, Male literacy stands at 87.23% while Female literacy is at 70.73%. And, credits go to the efforts of CM alongwith all his officers striving to spread literacy.

Our traditional oil lamp which still serves as the primary source of illumination in many parts of Gujarat, also informs of something about India’s huge and growing power deficit. While India had ‘power poverty’, it’s leaders opened the doors to commerce in nuclear energy! Gujarat is focused for ‘Green Energy, Clean Energy’ with the First in Asia trendsetter ‘Department for Climate Change.’ And, adopts the strategy to become global hub for renewable energy, which could be synonymous with climate justice for the generation next.

Urban development had remained a neglected sector in India and lacked a direction and political will. But, in Gujarat, initiatives like Jyotigram Yojna for 24x7 hours uninterrupted power supply in all the 18,000-odd villages and broadband connectivity to village panchayats in the State have succeeded in reducing the rural-urban gap and check rural exodus towns by 33 per cent. The light is illuminated in the life of people of ‘Rurban’ Gujarat with new plans and strategy. Jyoti Gram Yojna has changed the socio-economic conditions of Gujarat, creating a mass awareness too.

The flickering flame of Sadbhavana speaks of the initiatives for farmers who are known to be are known to be progressive and pragmatic in Gujarat. The unique Initiative of the Krishi Mela Mohatsav have brought tremendous change - Jal Kranti, leading to Gujarat providing Shwet Kranti (White revolution) to the nation and now, Harit Kranti (Green Revolution). Team of experts, researchers, scientists, Agriculture officers and Ministers interact and provide information and counselling on soil health, organic farming, technology and inputs, irrigation, etc., besides infusing a new spirit of change and mass mobilisation. More than 93,000 farmers in Gujarat have adopted drip irrigation for their total 1.51 lakh hectare land..The figures keep rising as Drip Irrigation system and inter-linking of 21 rivers of the state for conservation of water has made it possible for record crops and Sugarcane cultivation in the state. Gujarat has created history in water conservation, by launching a drive for blue revolution, constructing number of check-dams, boribunds, village ponds, khet talavadis and implementing water harvesting apart from Water shed development programs for increase in healthy living lifestyles with better income, education and resources.

World's Largest Irrigation Network, the pace of implementation of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Project with the dam height raised to 121.9 metres (from 90 metres five years ago) makes the waters of the Narmada flow all across the state through canals and water transmission lines. The project has immense contribution towards irrigation, hydropower and drinking water supply. It’s Bringing Smiles to Faces with Water Harvesting – Conserving Water for Tomorrow. In order to economize the use of Water, Gujarat has speeded up the promotion, awareness and application of micro-irrigation techniques such as Drip and Sprinkler Irrigation. Also, Innovative water solutions like desalination, recycling treatment, water purification, water saving, water security and water management play a key role in Water Harvesting in Gujarat.

The diya of Gyan (Knowledge) with Vision Gujarat aims aims for transformation of State into a globally recognized knowledge society and for this, proposed shelf of projects lay outlined for creation of specific Institutions in growth sectors such as Aviation University, Retail Management University, Maritime University etc and creating COE (Center of Excellence) across the state for Governance, Biotechnology, Textiles Research, Chemical Research, Nanotechnology, Agriculture, Earthquake Engineering Research, Architect and Design, Urban development, water, cleaner technology, space research and Tourism. ‘Smart goals with future vision’ and ‘Education for all’ is the mantra.

Bringing joy with literacy and education, The Campaign for ‘Education for All’ is implemented with major Literacy initiatives like ‘Kanya Kelavani, Shala Praveshotsav, Gunotsav and Vanche Gujarat.

The Sadbhavana soul stirs to flicker the flame to spread rays of hope amidst all imperfections that negative minds showcase. Gujarat is a shining beacon of democracy and development in a troubled country and is a force for good in an unstable world. Gujarat is committed to Enhancing Security - Physical, Social, Economic to it’s 6 crore people and further is concerned for the future of India’s Generation x. Gujarat is ready to safeguard the lamp from ill winds that blow and no force can harness the determination to surge ahead with people of Gujarat to spread Peace, harmony and Progress.

Thus, focused on the diyas of Gyan Shakti, Jal Shakti, Urja Shakti, Jan Shakti and Raksha Shakti – Gujarat has forged its own steady path along the roads of success this past decade. This ‘Panchshakti’ programs identify the key driving forces of the state’s economy and progress.

Just remember, Light is a symbolic of the purity of agni or fire that is essential in our progress towards attaining to enlightment and the need of the hour is, by opening our mind, we let in fresh wisdom, thereby expanding our horizons and broadening our vision.

To conclude, I think if all of us - the 6 crore people of Gujarat is hopeful of an emerging power to a glittering future Gujarat from a glorius past. 60 million dreams inspired the Government to cross various development milestones and every member of the administration irrespective of their ranking have unitedly accomplished the incredible success of the State. And now, we await to see our dreams come true in the future – what really the people need is – Peace and political stability. What really the people need is Development. What really the people need is comfort living, sustained life and no poverty issues. Much more…and all will join me ‘Yes, we want no corruption, no price rise and no violence’

Happy Navratri 2011 - time flies...

Time flies, leaving no room for personal spaces. In comes a lot of responsibilities that divert our attention to social and business life - And, maybe this can be an excuse for not stepping on this Blogging floor.

So many events passed by but the most exciting was 'Sadbhavana' Mission and I am sure, you must have traced the Sadbhavana footprints on CM Narendra Modi's Website. It says all! And, so do State Portal focus on the latest news that go with the State happennings.

Well, like every year, the Navratri festival is in full swing in town. What is so interesting is the GMDC - University Ground that is visited by thousands of people to catch a glimpse of the 'Sant Nagari' and 'Tourism pavilion' with the rich mucis and traditional garba dance at the venue. If you love Navratri, this is a Must Visit place and if you not seen this, you are not a Gujarati!

This reminds me, are you a Patel? Well, frankly speaking, I am. The Kadva Patidar Parivar Trust and Kadva Patidar Parivar Mahila Vikas is celebrating it's 25th Silver Jubilee Garba Mahotsav - 'Aso ni Ajwari Raat' (આસોની અજવાળી રાત) on 9th October, 2011 at D K Patel Hall in Ahmedabad. The topic of my Speech and Presentation were on 'Youth and Government - Paving a new path for India.' Follow the Presentation for a brief glance on feeling the 'Pulse' of the Youth and indepth findings. As an alert and an aware citizen, it is our prime responsibility to possibly work in areas where we can encourage Youth initiatives, innovation and entrepreneurship. As a result, some of my researched work highlights Government Policies and Sectors which held potential for plunge into business and keep a close watch on happennings in business world.

A call to the Youth focus on points to 'Get charged, Bring change' at a time when Anna Hazare fights for Corruption and the need of the hour arises for a Young Anna Hazare as the future of India is Youth.

- Make the Best of Everything!

Preparation-Preliminary - A fluffy white cloud can adorn a clear sky
with splendour or can clutter up your vision of the blue expanse. Again, a
grey cloud can cause you to get wet and irritate you, or it can make
earth refreshingly cool. Your choice defines what is best.

Ingredients:

- Make light of failure
- Avoid pessimists and fault finders
- Count your blessings
- Enjoy Life
- A vision of heaven

Method: Make failure an incentive to strive to do better.

Offer a deaf ear and blind eye to those who will not acknowledge the
cloud with a silver lining.

Remember a person without shoes is better off than one without feet.

Take time and pleasure in all you do even if it is eating a bread without
butter for breakfast.

Derive hope from saying, The Best is yet to come!

And yes, Best of friends too, yet to find, 'tis they come from heaven to spread peace and joy on earth. Tis a cup of love blend with faith, trust and all that is rosy and gold. Garnish your life with all the rich flavours of love to relish the taste for a life time!!!

Women has the power within. And a very good example is 'Kadva Patidar Parivar Mahila Vikas' - Those who awarded me 'Outstanding Journalist Award' - (for achievement in Kadva Patel community) some years ago! After a successful merge of Kadva and Leuva Patels, the Women's wing are now joining hands together as all Kadva and Leuva communities merge together with 'Lav Kush Patidar Mahila Sammelan' organized on 10th April 2011, Sunday, 8.30 a.m. at Open Grounds near Vardan tower, Pragatinagar, Naranpura, Ahmedabad. 13.

The Luv Kush Sammelan function will be graced by Shri shri ma Anantanandtirthji who will light the lamp and also be awarded for outstanding social work. Also present will be Shri Jai ambe Chundiwala Mataji (Gabbar ambaji). Kadva and Leuva patel (like Luv and Kush) will focus on message for women with book reading of "Nari Chetna' by Jigisha Kamalbhai Patel, Principal of Mirambica School. Awards will also be given to Nitaben Narhari Amin, Vice Prsident Hiramani School and Hiramani Sandhyajivan Kutir. Also Award to be given to Sangitaben Ramubhai Patel who runs a Marraige Bureau and into social service.

Kalaben has been a source of Inspiration to many women and she efficiently manages the Kadva Patidar Parivar Mahila Trust women's wing as President of the wing. She is active into social work and manages her own business - Kaneesha Boutique. So, if you are a Kadva or Leuva Patel or know any Patel women, rush to Luv Kush Sammelan - Patel women are unitedly creating waves in every field and shining on top.

in transit - Exhibition at Amdabadni Gufa

An Exhibition is held at 'The Gallery', Amdabad ni Gufa from 4th January to 9th January 2011. 'in transit' a journey that creates an undertone of new discoveries and distractions - will display recent works by Ayesha Parikh (photographs) and Amruta Shah (painted collages).

Both works focus on the concept of being 'in transit' as people. The duo has different exposures when combined from experiences that have played a huge role in moulding their perceptions. They have portrayed their experiences in art form on canvass with photographs by Ayesha. The painted collages by Amruta Shah are art work using mixed media.

World is changing and so is the next generation who can 'Think Big, dream big' - Ahmedabad see a host of Artists displaying their work, day in and out at various places. 'Art is where the heart is' and Ayesha and Amruta Shah just mean to reflect their inner souls and reveal their thoughts with an 'in transit' period of time.

CM at IIMA

IIM Conclave celebration had Hon'ble CM Narendra Modi as a Guest today in the morning hours and it was indeed a great honor for me to be present to hear his most inspiring speech. A presentation was shown on the development journey of Gujarat and the CM shared his vision of progress and development all through the years and what 2011 VGIS can further do for Gujarat in terms of economy.

What amazed me was a small child standing beside his dad and keenly listening to the CM speech. He clapped when the audience clapped and especially, when the CM spoke of Empowerment of children and that he would like to have the cars stopped on the roads when children are crossing the road. CM further said, areas like Law Garden should be only children areas for a day where they can freely play games like cricket, etc.

Mr. Narendra Modi spoke of Industries, Agriculture and Service sector - all three areas which are focused for development of Gujarat. For more, listen to the speech on his website.

In the Vote of Thanks, Mr. Amal Dhruv of IIM said, "CM's speech is an inspiring speech, energizing all and so gracefully charging all youth, men and women.The participation of IIM with government will bring in greater results." He gave a call for participation for all those who would devote time and contribute their share for the development of Gujarat.

Well, the coming VGIS 2011 and we are sure that Gujarat is on the World Map again - the IIMA joining the Government in its journey to success is sure to scale to heights.

Video to promote Education? Gunotsav?

Gunotsav, aiming to improve the quality of education at primary level has commenced in 618 primary schools of Vadodara district. Three thousand odd senior officials of the state, cabinet ministers and CM Shri Narendra Modi himself participated in three-day long drive commenced from 9th to 11th December and graded schools, teachers and students in Gujarat.

Gujarat Government has recruited 1.21 lakh Vidya Sahayak (education assistants), built more than 64 thousand class rooms, opened around 19600 new science labs, installed computer labs in 5500 schools, provided 33 thousand rural schools with electricity and facilitate 33 thousand odd schools with better drinking water and sanitation.

All can be read on CM Narendra Modi's website on this. But, follow the Blog of CM Narendra Modi and his note speaks of infusing life into Education. A very concerned note and total responsibility. However, it irks me to find a supportive video of 'Last Option' which stand irrelevant to the topic according to me. We need to devote time to development of children as Guardians but as responsible parents, nobody would like to see the video there which shows in ways to commit suicide!

I wonder, do our CM Narendra Modi promote such video on 'Why do kids commit suicide or How to commit suicide? An Award winning video but no way, should be promoted in a CM's blog nor should be watched by children online! I have no courage to give the you tube video here as the small kid's smiling face still shatter me to see him hooked to the rope. You may hop in to CM's blog and the linked video says all.

This not a movie of Amir Khan but real life of children and all parents love their children dearly - Promote Gunotsav but no need to promote such videos.

I run a children's Library since 1991 and promote Reading - Cultivate reading habits amongst children and run a Kids Newspaper Online - Never thought of promoting such videos just to promote education! The video has shaken me completely!

Gujarat gets United Nations Public Service Award

Recently, I came across a Certificate that adorn the wall at the Hon'ble CM Narendra Modi's Office. It is the Certificate of United Nations Public Service Award - 2nd Place Winner for Improving Transparency, Accountability and Responsiveness in the Public Service Category. Gujarat Government has proved for better management and better service with effectiveness, efficiency and quality of Public Service. The Certificate dates back to 23rd June 2010.

An Achievement by one of the Best States of India - It is a proud moment for every Gujarati and 5.5 crores who reside here that Gujarat is awarded by United Nations Public Service Award.

The news might be a surprize to you as none of the media I guess has published this nor even might have noticed this Certificate hanging on the CM's Office Wall. Not only this, it is also a matter of pride that it also has ISO 9001:2008 Certificate.

Well, East or west, Gujarat is the best and indeed, Heaven is a place on earth - only here that is 'Apnu Gujarat' - It rocks.

Blink, blink - Do you read?

Recently when Barrack Obama visited India, the first lady Michelle Obama had been active with children and spontaneously answered their questions even on home alone! When President of US tackled on conflicts across the world, it was curious minds who asked how they managed conflicts at home. Michelle Obama spontaneously revealed about who blinked first when she and Barrack Obama had a tiff. It is quite obvious reply that it was the President and I think, one who blinks first is the one who is a loser - a communication understanding that I give up! And, it happens to all when there's an emotional trigger. Try this exercise and one who blinks first is gentle and soft at heart.

Well, let this be aside but one important thing to note is that Michelle Obama highlighted India's need for Education. She explained school children the importance of education and to be prepared for life's challenges. She was concerned for literacy and focused on power of education and suggested that India urgely expand literacy and deepen education. Not only get educated for jobs but also be well versed to read and write and understand with critical thinking, engage in debate and face challenges to gear up for change. Seminars, workshops and engaging thinkers, writers, leaders, idols should be a part of in school and college education. Knowledge economy can help India grow more intellectually and technology advancement to attain economy power and profit.

The UNDP Multidimensional Human Development report shows that 55% of India's Population is poor. The new data also shows that even in states generally perceived as prosperous such as Haryana, Gujarat and Karnataka, more than 40% of the population is poor by the new composite measure, while Kerala is the only state in which the poor constitute less than 20%.

Quite obvious, Gujarat lag behind in Literacy and this is when the CM fully functions with the Vanche Gujarat calling for Gujaratis to enrich knowlege. The Vanche Gujarat Abhiyaan brings the State together to Read. A powerful orator, an avid read and an original thinker, the Gujarat CM reads and encourages others to read.

I have been conducting Reading class since 1991 at Swagat Children Library. Every Saturday it has been a 'Samay Daan' for few hours for children and with flow of time, I have noticed that Reading is completely on the back seat. No parents nor children have the patience to read nor do have the concentration. For students, where is the time? Same goes for Parents who have to do the projects for kids given in schools and follow up their schedule.

Gujarat a 'Can Do' State: Bags egov web 2.0 Awards:-)

The news around my desk says, "The official portal of Hon'ble CM Narendra Modi (http://www.narendramodi.in/) got the prestigious eGov 2.0 award for the ‘Most innovative use of social Media'. And, the Official Gujarat Government State Portal (http://www.gujaratindia.com/) bags an award as 'Most user friendly portal.'

The awards were conferred by The eGov magazine, Asia's first and only print-cum-online magazine on e-Governance, focusing on the use of ICTs in governance. The event was held at Hotel Claridges in Central Delhi on 28th October 2010. India eGov 2.0 Awards aims to felicitate and acknowledge unique and innovative initiatives in the use of social media tools for creating interactive platforms for improving citizen service delivery. It is also awarded for sharing and garnering information to meet the larger social development goals by the government and private sector bodies including citizens, citizen groups, NGOs and political parties.

India eGov 2.0 Awards is a unique initiative that will help bring to forth best practices of government and public sector websites and use of social media tools by them, as well as by civil societies and various development organisations in the country.”

Among the 400 entries for this prestigious award, Ministry of External Affairs' Public Diplomacy Division and Delhi Traffic Police shared with CM Narendra Modi's website as Editor's Choice Award for 'Most Innovative use of Social Media'

In his message for the occasion Chief Minister said that “I am extremely happy for today's award since it has supported my belief that we can do wonders by deploying the strength of social networking platforms- not only to remain closely in touch with people or to improve our delivery mechanisms, but also to make people actively participate in governance. It gives me satisfaction that over a period of time this portal has evolved as a strong platform for the citizens to have easy access to the highest office of the State”.

The portal is also novel in a way that it is put in 5 languages English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi and Sanskrit for a wide coverage of users. For the applications, readers may visit the CM's official site for view.

State portal of Gujarat http://www.gujaratindia.com/ has been recognized as the most user friendly portal. It shares the Editor's Choice Award with Bharat Petroleum Corporation and MP, Government of Madhya Pradesh. Swarnim Gujarat's Khel Mahakumbh live webcast today morning at eleven a.m. inspired Gujaratis as the Hon'ble CM Narendra Modi addressed people to start the Khel Mahakumbh event.

Gujarat Sports Mahakumbh aims at:

Kindling the spirit of sports in every Gujarati
Searching the best talents for sports
Spreading awareness about importance of sports for fitness
Popularizing and preserving our traditional sports

Gujarat Sports Authority encourages the natural talent and energy of sports-persons which would lift them to their best performance. Cultural Secretary Shri Bhagyesh Jha, Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Minister for Sports-youth &Cultural Affairs Shri Fakirbhai Vaghela apart from Department’s officials are making relentless efforts to make the event a grand success.

The ‘Khel MahaKumbh Flame’ will flag off from Shahibaugh Police stadium on 20th November, which will arrive at taluka and district places on 21st. The district Panchayat, seat-wise competitions would begin on 22nd. As per the schedule, from 22nd to 25th the District Panchayat, Municipality and Municipal Zone-wise competitions are to be held. From 26th to 29th the taluka-level contests are to be held. Direct district level competitions are on anvil from 25th to 1st Dec. Inter district competitions are to be held from 1st to 4th Dec. Special coaching session is arranged with an aim to polish their talents for the players from 5th to 7th Dec. State level volleyball completions are arranged separately for the mentally challenged; at the same time, for deaf& dumb and visually impaired persons the special cricket competitions are being organized to mark their participation in Khel MahaKumbh 2010.

Now, here goes all the hustle-bustle of activities with the Khel MahaKumbh events and it is really going to be a historic and momentous occasion, which will create and surpass many records. Swarnim Navratri 2010 ends!

Swarnim Gujarat Navratri 2010 which also marked the golden jubilee of Gujarat came to an end and I am sure many of you must have attended the same if you are in Ahmedabad.

The Navratri Festival was organized at GMDC Grounds at Memnagar from 8-16 October and was known as Ahmedabad's CWG! Participated by top Industrial houses and supported by Guj State, the event marked as the world's longest dance festival with tourist attraction - over 40,000 people attended the event which included 18 ambassadors from countries like Nepal, Albania, Peru, Cambodia, Ukraine, etc. The venue saw a huge concert stage with non stop garba dance and folk dance performance, huge photo gallery of Gujarat, theatre show, theme pavillion with Champaner gallery (world heritage site) and other heritage places,the then and now places of Ahmedabad in huge photo frames and much more of Tourism with the Amitabh Bacchan campaign stealing the show as it attracted the audience. The handicrafts with craft bazaar, food outlets, games and adventure sports, fireworks, fountains and lighting were the major attraction.
As usual, I had a casual stroll but the feeling this time turned sour! The reason was Management - mis-Management - in the sense that it could be a chaos on the last day with thousands of people thronging to see the Gujarat glimpse. One can spot the masses and no classes - Free never has value, I guess. It did offer free entertainment and glimpse into what you all did not know about Gujarat.

The navratri ends but not too soon as you can always look for more to come with the Vibrant Summit 2011 on 12-13th January and the Kite Festival too.

'Sanjog se Bani Sangini' - Ga41 Entertainment's guests

Sometime ago, stars of the Zee Television Serial 'Sanjog se Bani Sangini' were in town. The soap opera is somewhat based on the film 'Devdas'- a love story of a guy Rudra (Iqbal Khan) who fails to get his childhood love Pihu, played by Aditi Gupta and than he takes to alcohol. At this point of time, enters Gauri (Binny Sharma) into his life like a breath of fresh air. Both live in different worlds yet emotionally bonded - will their love bloom their live? Time will say as the serial continues during the afternoons.(I hardly get time to see but You Tube shows all if u want skip and even watch few episodes!)

Aruna Irani and Sudha Chandran makes an appearance and it's nice to see them in the episodes apart from many others. Aruna Irani is the mother of Iqbal and plays her devious role who wants to do anything at any cost and is shrewd one in the serial!

Btw, the unit of Ga41 ENTERTAINMENT who are Event Managers and works on promotions, events and all related to Entertainment had Iqbal and Binny Sharma as guests for a day when they came for 'Sanjog Se Bani Sangini' Promotions to Ahmedabad some time ago. I was the lucky one to be photographed with the artist but here's a pic to share of the unit Ga41 Entertainment managed by Atrish and Grishma Trivedi - the most talented people in the field of Event Management. Gujarat Tourism at TTF Fair

TTF Fair and with a Gujarat Tourism participation rocked the venue Gujarat Exhibition Hall. Being into Holidays Business, I casually strolled for a visit and was amazed to see the visitors lined for travel destinations.

300 Participants were from 21 states and 10 countries. Among the International participants, they were from China, Nepal, Dubai, Philippines, Egypt, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam participating in the Outbound Travel segment. Among the major State tourism participants were Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh , Rajasthan, Karnataka , West Bengal, Chattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Punjab, and Jharkhand. Over 15000 Travel enthusiastics turned up at the show and sort for perfect Destinations. More Gujaratis are found to be travelling round the globe with more attractions for Egypt, Switzerland and Japan followed by places in Kerela, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Though International travel attracted visitors, so was a glimpse into Gujarat was inviting.

The Gujarat Tourism promotion was amazing with live traditional and cultural programs. The vibrant garba dancing by girls and live showing of destinations in Gujarat showed the spirits of Gujarat Tourism on rise. Gujarat offers everything in the tourism landscape including heritage, archaeology, religion, wildlife/eco-tourism and handicrafts.

In an Economy Boom, opportunities have never been better for Entrepreneurs and I feel, Entrepreneurs should read this book as ‘How to stay tuned’ to their own business and even face challenges with competitive companies in their own markets. Pushpendra Mehta’s Academic and Professional journey gives an insight to grab opportunities and strike big with wide ranging resource that offer something for business pioneers of all stripes.

India - Land of the Free

Wishing all readers who pass by this blog, 'Happy Independence Day' as India celebrates 64th Independence Day tomorrow, 15th August.

An incident narrated by Gandhiji's interpreter Alexander Horace who first met Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram in 1928. One day when Gandhi was praying in a village, a Muslim caught him by the throat.

Gandhi almost collapsed. But even as he fell down, he recited some lines from the Quran.

On hearing them, the Muslim said, “I am sorry. I am prepared to protect you. Give me any work. Tell me what should I do?”

Gandhi replied, “Do only one thing. When you go back home, do not tell anyone what you tried to do to me. Otherwise there will be Hindu-Muslim riots. Forget me and forgive yourself.”

India is a Can do Nation, A democratic country and I think it is high time our politicians in Delhi spread a positive signal of calm and peace to citizens. So many citizen voices and people power say it all, what more can I say in a small note here but to hope for a truly Independent country where nobody sleep without a morsel of food!

55% of India's Population is Poor - Gujarat 9th MPI Rank

A report says, 55% of India's Population is Poor! 645 Million People are poor as measured by Multi-dimensional Poverty Index (MPI). Developed by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) for the United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP) forthcoming 2010 Human Development Report,the MPI attempts to capture:

Income poverty line
Education - years of schooling and child enrollment
Health - child mortality and nutrition
Standard of Living - Electricity,Flooring,Drinking water,Sanitation,Cooking fuel and assets

Gujarat seems to have 40% of population living in poverty as per the new composite measure. The incidence of poverty and its intensity are both measured. No wonder, so many of them are under nourished and education is far way distant dream. Though all efforts are tuning to success for the government in upgrading education level and focusing on health issues, it might turn the poverty ratio to lessen as the State Development growth may provide ample job opportunities to somewhat eradicate poverty.

Gujarat stand as 9th in MPI Rank. The stats read:

Gujarat 57.3 Population in millions (2007)
MPI - 0.205
Proportion of poor - 41.5%
Average Intensity - 49.2%
Contribution to overall poverty - 3.4%
Number of MPI Poor in millions - 23.8

I guess it is thoughful to take to task on issues that concern poverty though the development itself speaks of tremendous growth.

Conference I attended - Building secure cities in troubled times

A half day conference was held on 25th May 2010 at The Hotel Gateway Ummed in Ahmedabad on the topic” Building Secure Cities in Troubled Times’ at The Hotel Gateway Ummed, Ahmedabad at 2.00 pm on May 25th, 2010. This conference was a part of the ‘Secure your City - Ahmedabad Initiative’ organized by SWI ( Security Watch India) in association with Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, IPPAI, CSARN, BCIC, MCCI. The conference was sponsored by Indianeye, while the security partner was G4S and the Media Partner, Business World.

I participated in this Conference which has the mission of 'Secure Your City - Ahmedabad Initiative' and support and facilitate the efforts of the Government, security Agencies and Industry to secure Business and citizens of Ahmedabad. The Inaugural speech was by Shri Balwant Singh, Addnl. Chief Secretary, Home Department, Government of India. All sessions were chaired by Mr. Maroof Raza, Defence Analyst and Senior Advisor, SWI. The conference was meant for Hotels, Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, Malls, Banks, Airports, Nuclear Sites, Power Plants, Oil & Gas Pipelines, Seaports, Refineries & Mines

It is said that, 'Disasters don't happen to places, it happens to people.' It is a fact that the city of Ahmedabad is one of the most rapidly growing Metropolitan Cities set to become a global hub across many sectors. Ahmedabad needs to match the pace when it comes to threat preparedness, disaster and emergency management, and the incorporation of secure systems and procedures across business and various other establishments for continuity and resilience.

The joint initiative focused on Action several points as Government and citizen participation, coastal security operations, need for maritime development and co-ordination and other issues that relate to implementations of technology and latest equipment and coordination for police forces and preparing for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.

As per the Information derived from the Conference, talking on world terror fatalities, till Dec 5, 2009, India had experienced 2062 fatalities, out of which 920 were due to naxalite operations, 782 were incidents in the North East and 360 were in the troubled region of J&K, clearly indicating that security is largely affected in the country through such disgruntled factions and insurgent groups. Additionally forest lands have become guerilla zones and 231 districts in the country have naxal influence, with the strongest presence in south Chattisgarh.

Not going deeper into why India is so susceptible to disasters, much about the Security Issues, which are the soft targets when terrorist strike and knowing the anatomy of terrorist and why such attacks are not handled well, the Conference gave an insight to major roles that can be played by Government and citizens to combat terror.

A mobile phone based alarm system named E-Watch, enabled through GPS was also demonstrated at the Conference.

Girl Education and school enrolment initiatives takes off. A three-day ‘Kanya Kelavani' and ‘Shala Praveshotsav' programme is held during 17-18-19 June 2010 in rural areas whereas programme for urban areas will be held during 24-25-26 June 2010.

The Initiative is promoted by Gujarat CM along with his team of Cabinet Ministers, Secretaries, MLAs and Govt. officials who personally visit villages like last year and foresees a vision to higher the literacy rate and aim for 'zero - ‘0’ percent' drop out rate in Gujarat.

Around 1.05 Lacs of teaching assistants, 64,390 new classrooms, 50,350 sanitation facilities and 32,350 schools will be equipped with drinking water and electricity. This is a major change at Primary education level in rural and urban villages in Gujarat.

Moreover, Books will be donated to schools under the 'Vanche Gujarat' initiative. Toys will be donated which involves people participation to donate 'a book and a toy' for children. Yoga demonstration and Computer teaching will also be conducted. Great efforts are put for education reforms as there will be a system of Teacher-student Gradation in schools. Weaker students will be specially taken care for. Std. 8 will be included in Primary schooling too.

Vidhyalakshmi Bonds will be distributed and implementation of midday meal scheme will be assessed.

GCERT getting ready to change the Primary school syllabus - for Good!

For the parents and teachers of class I-V - good news is that GCERT (Gujarat Council of Education Research and Training) is going to review the text book syllabus of classroom teaching. Best of the teachers are selected and I hear, the new group is formed which includes 160 resource persons - primary teachers, cluster resource centre co-ordinators, Education inspectors, experts from Textbook Board, readers and lecturers from GCERT.

This group will discuss how children learn, their tastes of learning and classroom habits. They will take about a year and a half to submit their recommendation to a curriculum committee headed by well known academician who will verify to further make their recommendation to the Education Department for final decision.

Long procedure, isn't it? Anyways, but some move is being made and that's for good instead of teaching children boring lessons - mistakes and language flaws apart...Children are move savvy today and the Govt. Text books need a complete revision.

Btw, ask an English medium primary class student, 'Do you know 'Cat in the Hat' and the reply comes, "Yeah, we learnt the lesson in the classroom" However, they hardly know it was Dr.Seuss' famous work and ask children, who is Dr. Suess and few can reply to this! This is English medium - naa gharna naa ghatna...And even, I am one of them!

Go Green : Join the Green Campaign

E-green Initiatives:
Go Green and the Government has all plans set ready to roll down and involve environment lovers to go eco friendly. The State's Forest and Environment Department I hear has announced appointment of green volunteers in city areas for protection of trees and to increase the social forestry in urban areas. Interested citizens and organisations will be motivated to be Green Guards. Students, teachers, eco clubs, environment lovers, environmentalists, social workers or any citizen can join the Green Guard movement. Be Green Ambassadors and motivators will play their role to join hands with the government to face global warming.

The Swarnim pledge is happenning and everybody wants to contribute and add zest to life. Be it Read Gujarat initiative or Go Green - life moves on and maybe soon enough, we have the Health Gujarat initiative to guide our kids and stop them being obese by eating the junk outside!

Swarnim Sankalp Jyot Rath Yatra began on 12th February 2010 on the auspicious ocassion of Shiv Ratri to mark the people's festival of 50 Glorious years of Gujarat. Every citizen of the State participates in the celebrations of Swarnim Gujarat and as countdown begins, on 1st May at Sardar Patel Stadium, Dr. Kamala Beniwal, Governor of Gujarat will inaugurate the cultural show. Around 4000 participants from various regions of Gujarat will perform live amidst light and sound show. 'Vande Gujarat' - the theme will focus on History of Gujarat and remember all those who contributed for gujarat. There will be a fusion of traditional folk music and dance to the modern era with laser shows of illuminated lights and effects with echo surround sound effects that truly will be enthralling.

I witnessed the extraordinary pre preparations and am sure, many will like to be there lest they miss out.

Remembering 12th March

12th March and an unforgettable day for me - My dad was born this day - Gandhiji's Salt Satyagraha and Sambhaav Newspaper's birthday. It is not a death of a newspaper with five years of continuous Sambhaav Metro - However, there is no match substitute to the newspaper that Bhupatbhai managed. One got to accept with grace. And, when I see Bhai today, my heart fills with emotions that have no words to say except wish him happy ageing and happy memories of the yester years.

4. Endless learning in a school called 'Life'
5. A better living style

We are enrolled in a full time Life School where there is endless experiencing and endless learning. We may like to learn these lessons or just hate this experiences but ultimately, it do make you a better person. There is no better place than 'Here' living on the edge, whatever Life offers and in this presence, we simply get to reach 'There' - And yeah, this is a better 'There' always than 'Here' coz the very experiences in life takes one to a higher ground and makes a better compromise with life - Some things happen in life just for GOOD.

Advaniji says on his blog "It's time for compulsory voting" - The idea of CM Narendra Modi's initiative has a supported voice. Gujarat has introduced this measure for all local body elections. The law has been passed by the State Assembly, but it is still to be implemented. The rules etc are still being worked out, says Advaniji.

And right opined. Compulsory voting will have higher percentages from the literate, Graduates, post graduates - the youth and who have a clear voice.

Advaniji adds "Not many may be aware that as many as 25 countries inhabited by more than 700 million people today have compulsory voting even for their parliamentary election. These countries include Australia, Argentina, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Thailand and Singapore. I feel political thinkers in India also must apply their mind to this."

So, what do you say? Your Opinion, your voice always counts. The Government of Gujarat is open to voices and what better voices could it be other than yours? Do you support Compulsory voting initiative of CM Narendra Modi or you won't?

Btw, let me be honest - I never voted in my life but only after seeing the CM working wonders, I've started voting since last two years! The perspective has to change....

Rambling thoughts on Gujarat Development

Ahmedabad and have you arrived to a Mega city? Yet? Somewhere I read, "Every city has a page 3 culture" - I guess Ahmedabad has a 'Page 3+3+3..." culture. We need many 3 pages to speak of the glory of the city of Gujarat!

If you think I am referring to the Kankaria Lake, the BRTS service or the flyovers, you're little bit right. However, it's more about the word 'Development' - the Projects, the schemes, the initiatives. 'Apde ketla taka' is now getting to 'apan ne ketla taka' - This does not matter as long as the development process is on as Gujaratis have a vision and the future belongs to the people who beholds. 'M' is a word more popular after the word 'M' in 'Millinnium' and this M for Mega is creating waves in all Corporates, Education places and Estate-housing schemes. The word 'Charity' is freely used and the funded concepts works wonder - be it economy housing schemes for low class or education for deprived.

The present is ever greeting the past in different ways with the traditional gujarati ways stepping a comeback to urban homes. The city has got Entrepreneurial spirits which ticks off to global map.

Lacking is Traffic management - any other? mindsets of people and man power with professional polished skills. The weakest part is lacking in 'English language skills' and also fail to preserve its own traditional mother tongue 'Gujarati' language. We can go on....if we ever try to find faults...so many of them for which we can't blame the government all the time!

Well, We got to think Positive and focus on present and future. What is so unique about all the developments is 'Governance' - And, Gujarat is # 1 in Governance - fifth time in six years!Gujarat CM's statements, critical or appreciative, are noted seriously. No other CM has made political presence of Gujarat felt as much in New Delhi on matters of development. No other CM has pursued such a dynamic diaspora and aggressive tourism policies.

'Chalo Gujarat' and it's development of not only Gujarat but India too. It only remains to be seen how well, the 'Good Governance' can survive amidst all the major plans and how well can tact and intelligent governance skills be used for 'Swarnim Gujarat. - a Golden Gujarat where Life is a celebration.

BRTS Impressive!

Recently, I attended the Traffic Seminar on occassion of Traffic Police celebrating Traffic week in the city. It was nice to see active participation of AMC Mun. commissioner IP Gautam, Mr. J P Gupta, Transport Commissioner (person behind City Disaster management), Mr. Mohan Jha, Police Commissioner, Mr. Anarwala, Dy. Commissioner of Police who answered the queries and discussed on issues related to Traffic at GCCI.

No wonder, with officers active initiative, aapnu Gujarat is sure to scale high as I hear that Janmarg Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in Ahmedabad is chosen by Transport Research Board (US) for the Sustainable Transport Award-2010 recently. Top World Bank officials too were impressed by development and urban governance work undertaken by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

Earlier, I had mentioned in news about the officers to attend a session on 'Arrangements for managing and operating Bus Rapid Transit System'. Municipal commissioner IP Gautam made a presentation of development projects like UMEED program, Sabarmati riverfront development, waste water treatment plant and solid waste management apart from financial reforms taken by the AMC.

Traffic and it's a hurdle!

Missed out postings and its almost a new beginning of the year 2010! I am sure, all readers will have a happy go lucky, cheerful and bright year. Only...Only if you believe in your ownself and the things/wonders that you can do:-)

I just had a choice to go for a brunch party or go for an AMC - GCCI walk to riverside project. Quite obvious, my choice you can understand. Yeah, my choice was a brunch party!

How many of us miss our our social obligations just because we are enjoying our personal lives? All most all of us have choices but I think, the day isn't far when we have to engage ourselves for causes. Especially, the Traffic problems. We complain every day and can't even reach place timely. The major issue we need to combat is traffic problem and I almost am planning to reach the venue for Open house Traffic Awareness program at GCCI on 5th Jan, 5.30 pm.

Rich nations do need to contribute fair share

Copenhagen and the buzz is that Prime Minister Singh is in Copenhagen right now with Environment Minister Ramesh making decisions that will determine India's future.

India has lobbied hard for the removal of both the peak year and 2 degree targets. India is understandably reluctant to commit to these global targets unless rich countries agree to do their fair share of emissions reductions. The biggest contributor to these emissions is USA. I think they are shirking their responsibilities and has more of their mess.

You can call PM Mr. Singh and Env Minister Ramesh if you think India should not block a 2 degrees target at Copenhagen. Instead it should be the driving force.

Without a strong Copenhagen treaty, our rivers will flood, our coastline will disappear, and our farmland will dry up as the Himalayan glaciers disappear. India must lead at Copenhagen if our people are to survive.

Get Well Soon CM Narendra Modi - Treatment responding

On 29th October morning, after he came back from Russia, Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi showed signs of cold, cough and body temperature and doctors examined him. He insisted doctors to take H1N1 test.

It turned to be Positive! Doctors attending have expressed that there is no cause for any concern regarding Chief Minister health and he is responding to the treatment. He is advised complete rest and isolation for one week. All facilities for isolation and medical treatment has been arranged at the official residence of the Chief Minister and the doctors team is on 24 hours attendance. An expert team of Doctors consisting of Dr. Atul Patel, Dr. Kamlesh Upadhyaya, Dr. R.K.Patel and Dr. Paresh Vora is attending on Hon. Chief Minister.

We pray God that Hon. CM recovers fast to be back at work with full force to serve Gujarat. You too, please pray for our CM.

Vibrant Gujarat 2009 - Life is indeed a Celebration. And I just experienced this during my visit to University grounds.

Memorable remains the Tourism Pavilion, the Saputara corner and the Special Investment Region presentation apart from Aishwarya's Garba and the huge unbelievable crowd celebrating the way they can dance and sing the venue. The venue is simply superb and Management ala grande!

At the food courts, most memorable was eating Rotla and oro prepared by women from Jasdan Taluka. The sweetness in their nature was just appealing.

My experience has been great and I would say, its 'Fantastic Vibrant Navratri 2009' here in Gujarat.

Anti Terror Quick Response Teams

Gujarat plans to set up 111 anti-terror Quick Response Teams (QRTs) in it's move to toughen the drive against terrorism. The QRTs will operate 365 days round the clock in every corner of the State with hi tech weapons, equipments and vehicles.

Awaiting for approval for its proposal sent to the centre, Gujarat will be the first state to have such high level security. The 111 QRTs will be set its base with 78 Quick Response Teams in Districts, 12 in Ahmedabad, 6 in Vadodara, 6 in Surat, 3 in Rajkot, 3 in Western Railway (Vadodara) and 3 in State Control Room (Gandhinagar)

GCCI Business women wing Exhibition

GCCI Business Women's Wing recently held an Exhibition named 'Garima 2009' at its premises for products manufactured, traded and marketed by women Entrepreneurs. The Inauguaration was by Mr. Bharat Sharma, Zonal Head, ICICI and Guest Mrs. Jimmy Nanda, Mrs. India, Mrs. Universe Runner up.

This year, being the Silver Jubilee Year of the Wing, a committee is initiated to lift the self-esteem of businesswomen. The committee will focus on five areas, namely textiles, food processing, jewellery, handicrafts and tourism, informed Mrs. Neeta Shah, Chairperson of the Business women's wing. Priorities for overall development of women - enhancing their skills of English language and Computer skills will also be a major program considerations, she said. Supported by Co-Chairperson Deepa Shah and other active committee members, the Business women's wing is set to pace ahead to make women See Dreams, Think Big and Do IT.

The Exhibition stall participants were exclusive 'Women Entrepreneurs. The Exhibition was applauded by Women Entrepreneurs/stall holders who appreciated the Business women wing's efforts by providing three ps - proactive, platform and problem solving to lead to progress.

The wing conducted a three-day seminar on entrepreneurship for women to guide them on finance management, marketing management and other aspects of business. The programs and seminars were conducted for women on all the three days by various field experts who imparted their knowledge.

The expert Designer, Villoo Mirza also shared her experience and knowledge with the women entrepreneur. " We should feel hungry for knowledge. I am not a textile person by profession but learnt in process of love of work. I am an artistic and an aesthetic person," Villo Mirza said. She gave insight to various design techniques while she learnt with her wide experience being the Design Head at Gurjari, later NID and NIFT and now with associated with SEWA. She believed in 'No Spoon Feeding' but students should learn to understand the fabric behavior, material usage and many other things while they work with garments. Having imparted training at Arvind, she spoke on marketing and how to sell the products while focusing on quality. A presentation of Garment Design, fashion and styles was showed to the members explaining in detail.

A participant Prerak Soni and his wife who deal with Jewellery (SIPL) raised their concern on how to reach maximum customers apart from such exhibition. It so happens that due to time constraints of women and lack of reach and awareness, business drops at a time. They requested the wing to form an Association and provide information of such buyers with respective products. Mrs. Neeta Shah showed her cooperation and said, will initiate and help women to find resources. Mrs.Villo Mirza came with an idea to make constructive use of closed Mills and set up Clusters at one place for products like production units, packaging, marketing etc. so that all required facilitate easy working.

Well, I think, Sparks and they are sparklers - A positive 'Team Work' plays a role and a well 'Delegated' Leader's team can only bring results!

'Khabar Lahariya', a newspaper produced entirely by women in rural India, distributed to more than 20,000 readers in Uttar Pradesh is awarded United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation's (Unesco) King Sejong Literacy Prize for Excellence and Innovation in Literacy.

Khabar Lahariya has 15 women, newly literate "low caste" women who are trained as journalists by Nirantar. Besides developing their literacy skills and honing their reporting abilities, the women reporters are trained to talk to public figures, gather information and sharpen editing skills. The coverage of Khabar Lahriya includes politics, crime, social issues and entertainment for a readership that spans 400 villages in both Chitrakoot and Banda districts of India's most populous state.

Unesco's King Sejong Literacy Prize was instituted by South Korea and this year, out of the four winners, Khabar Lahariya gets $20000.

CM addresses Teachers

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi felicitated 35 teachers from across the state and address over one crore students of various schools through video conferencing on Teachers' Day, today - 5th September 2009 at Tagore Hall.

CM's speech was broadcasted live in 7,600 primary schools and 4,391 secondary schools which have computers with LCD screens, 410 colleges and 90 self-financed institutes and 62 government polytechnics. Prohibition in Gujarat

The other day, I'd been watching the proceedings of the Assembly on Television. Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah agressively spoke to make his point that prohibition in gujarat was, is and will stay in Gujarat. The culture thrives to the fact with the principles of Mahatma Gandhi of a dry land.

The first step in solving a problem is to accept it and that he did. Even regretted and felt hurt self esteem that it happened with lives lost. He mentioned, "In earlier Government, there occured 13 incidents but in present government, this is the first!" Indeed, a bad fate of bootlegger-police-politician! One never can say, when next such incident may happen with ongoing activities in clandestine (and it is). Cops are transferred, reshuffled and stringent measures are taken, meetings held to identify ways and means to control. However, the fact remains, the frustrated, jobless, stressed, lonesome etc. are sure to fall prey to sort comfort. A need arise to solve these people issues and problems, create awareness on the hazards - now that dry measures are implemented and more stringent rules apply.

Narendra Modi Government needs to build the courage to go beyond and resolve for peoples' socio-economic-emotional issues to curb not only prohibition lapses but also other factors like suicide (are rising), seperations (are rising), hate, bickerings, etc. Time is changing and so is Economy - So will mindsets change!

The MSN News caption says, "Obama asks Americans to study hard, beat Indians" - Gives me a hearty laugh. Finally, the Americans think, they have a tough competition.

The Obama government has already taken steps for building foundation for 21st Century Education System to allow them to compete India and China and everybody else around the world. By 2020, results are expected for a Super Power Educated Americans.

Great Initiative. Btw, you can cross your fingers and watch for major Projects and Initiatives transforming our very loving Gujarat. All we need is a Positive approach as far as we want a 'Change' and Change will come - We shall Overcome.

However, I do regret the Deshi Liquor scam in Ahmedabad. Can we call this, negligence of the Police Department or the Government? It is high time, the dry land turns to wet and if not, some strict measures should be taken - Else, in every nook and corner of a posh locality or a low BPL (Below Poverty Line) area, one apt to find corruption and daru ka adda. The victims falling prey to drinking are more the teenagers and of course, the economically challenged backward and BPL people.

Carnival on C G Road

Walker's Paradise on C G Road yesterday has been a great experiment for 'Go Green' - No Car Day was simply superb! It was like a fun Carnival.

We often end up our Sundays at a club or meet friends or get to the posh Fortune Landmark, Piano@Grand Bhagwati, Silver Leaf or the Taj - Maybe freak in at Chocolatery or Amazo...or just about Havmor ...whatever...However, believe me, if such 'Walker's Paradise' opens up at places, it is just about a 'Family Fun' and pollution free spaces. Kids had a gala time to skate, dance, go cycling, etc. There were caricature experts, tattoo makers, balloon vendors, bhel, pani puri and pop corn sellers - all through the road and people had just fun scrolling. It began with Jogger's @ C G Road followed by races and rappling and many activities for the amdavadis. Students of St Kabir School highlighted traffic problems and solutions. There were also look-alikes of Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Nana Patekar and Naresh Kanodia parading on the road with a huge group of children trailing behind.

I happened to freak for a change and saw the LIC sponsored Live Music show. The professionals sang their best but it were the kids who danced to the tunes and got the prizes. Moreover, it was an opportunity to listen to 'Bhowmik Shah' the young singer who sang the song, 'Tujhe dekh dekh sona tujhe dekhkar...' - Though Bhowmik sang his best numbers on the stage, we missed listening to this number from Kalyug. He is terrific talented boy from Ahmedabad and people went un-noticed to his real true identity at the show. I got his blur pic on my blackberry which is yet uploaded.

Well, I wish there was a permanent 'Walker's Paradise' on C.G. Road against all odds and oppose from the shop owners. Some of the buildings like Kalapurnam and Super Mall had sponsored space for these live perfromances though. Anyways, this is our Rocking town and getting more interesting day by day with all round developments.

Kankaria is full bubbling and so will be C G Road and S G Road, we all know is full of Traffic Jam - But, than it happens only in Ahmedabad that people are enjoying the fun and nobody stays home on Sundays - Home Kitchen is closed! Spreading Literacy - Heal the World!

To improve the quality of primary education in the state every educated person, non-government organisations and youth should devote at least 100 hours teaching the less privileged children, says CM Narendra Modi.

On the first day of the Educational yatra 1,82,800 students were admitted in various schools from which 87,048 were girls. The kindergarten also saw a wave of admission with 1,18,855 kids being admitted and of them 56,449 were girls. Rs 2.36 crore were donated among other items to various schools as well. In this drive, as many as 225 IAS, IPS and IFS officials and 30 ministers visited 8,638 schools in the state.

Posing as a role of School Teacher, the leader spreads a message of Literacy and encourages kids for Education as this is a prime concern as they are the future of the State.

CM Narendra Modi's Magic didn't work and now some politicians call it 'Black Magic' - it just turned black as everything twisted around! I guess, he never said, he wanted to be a PM, did he? I always heard him of speaking that he is a 'CM' - a common man who just went around to work wonders for the party - a 300 rallies no ever leader held in any campaign! Bad luck, though success came in Gujarat with marginal seats, it is just a surprize how Panchmahal and Sabarkantha just failed to expectations. Esp. Panchmahal saw the R Day celebrations with development to heights with various schemes. Infrastructure, health, education, women and child welfare, environment, water and cleanliness, power supply, etc schemes are under development.

Let's see now, how the new Government tackles the three most problems of the country:
1. Governance
2. Employment/Development
3. Terrorism

In comes, top priorities and their Vision Goal for next five years, at least! How they would tap in to combat issues of communalism and fundamentalism and last, I would look forward how they would bring Economic stability and tackle issues of poverty, rathar, minimise urban-rural divide.

Kaun Banega PM? The race continues as Voting in Gujarat ends! What was impressive was that elderly people were seen most concerned as they came to vote at the polling booth. Interesting was to see phones buzzing among the youth who rang up and talked to each other about the Elections and Mr. Modi. Another thing I felt was, the wave of Modi mania that created an air of election campaign that was never before. Even the Television channels for the whole day focused on Elections and CM Narendra Modi seemed to be the 'Talk of the Nation.' - whatever the debate was and among the heat of word wars was amusing admiration for him!

Well, whatever will be, will be...the future is destined...ke sara, sara! Anyways, the state has progressed with all round development - Gujarat has maintained an incredible growth rate of 13 per cent. Ane 'Apnu Gujarat' is truly 'maru, tamaru and sarva nu Gujarat' - and the dream of the Narendra Modi to see Gujarat on Top of the World is our dream too....Isn't it?

CM Narendra Modi's Hindi and Sanskrit website launch

The official website CM Narendra Modi will today be launched in Hindi and Sanskrit at 5.00 p m at Ellisbridge Gymkhana. Vishwa Hindu Parishad President Shri Ashok Singhalji, head of the Sat Kaival Sampradya Acharya Shri Avichaldasji Maharaj and Sanskrit scholar Shri Dayabhai Shashtri will grace the function with their presence. The website launch in these two languages will help connect the masses, especially the younger generation, which is tech savvy and more likely to respond via the web medium, directly with the visionary leader.

Sanskrit is the most revered language since the ancient age of Indus Valley civilization. The CM believes that Sanskrit texts carry the fundamental underlying ideas of humanity at the highest level, and is of great relevance to us even today, as we cannot build a prosperous future without understanding our roots. 2 Million active campaign volunteers, 18% of total voter turnout, 2.1% Youth voted for Obama and Obama eventually won by 7% - Twitter, Facebook communities, door to door campaigns, pressure on friends and relatives, volunteer phone calls and Change has come to America - Youth changed the America!

With a campaign for the Loksabha Elections, Youth can change India. Half of the population in India is below 25 and 2/3 under the age of 35. They can bring the transformation and a great big change. Leaders like the CM of Gujarat can bring in a change who can be another Obama and its words and words only but more, Actions too that shows the results. I was just watching the Headlines show yesterday and found a Leader who had a challenging answers to the Anchor Rahul Kanval. As I wait for the transcript to come my way, what I gather is, here's a leader who has a vision to the future. He do not believe in 'forgiveness' and boldly says, 'Hang me' if found guilty. I guess, for a common person, what is important is development and not hang on to the who, how, what where or why and things that do not matter to him the most. What Gujarat is today, never was Before! The development of the State is on a fast pace and as I dig into the minute details of the State to pen down, I find Gujarat on a Map of the world - standing tall with its rich heritage, culture and economic growth.

I just updated my Health Blog as World Health Day was on 7th April. Normally, we celebrate days quite casually without giving a thought over it but Health concerns and it really matters! Especially, those on the Internet with couple of hours on surfing and even maintaining sites or promoting and marketing own blogs. Well, I was just reading Sri Sri Ravishankerji's site and he says,

" India's problems are complex. And unfortunately these are compounded by vote-bank politics. Instead of uniting the different sections of society, many politicians divide it to keep their vote banks intact. If people are united, politicians won't be able to get votes through divisive politics. In such a situation, the only way for them to win votes would be through good performance. As citizens, we must protect our country from those who manipulate issues for their personal gains and who lead by playing vote-bank politics. Those with vested interests support insensible decisions and oppose sensible ones. We have to steer clear of such leaders. We must encourage broad-minded politicians and leaders to come forward and take charge, and to educate and uplift the society - spiritually, morally and socially. We need leaders who are satya-darshi (truthful), sam-darshi (equanimous), priya-darshi (pleasant), paar-darshi (transparent) and door-darshi (visionary). So, before we elect our leaders, we should examine their qualifications. We must elect leaders who will do away with policies based on caste, creed, religion and region; who will ensure that every child gets a multi-cultural, multi-dimensional education. We need leadership with a mission and a vision, leadership with a spirit of sacrifice, compassion and commitment. When good, intelligent and well-educated people don't vote, they play into the hands of politicians, who use money and vote bank politics to seize power. Isn't this true? Ask many Youth, they never voted but now, they see some Power within their own Government and like the efforts of Jagoree, Aap vote nahi kar rahe toa aap so rahe ho'

Blogger allows Transfer of blog - for good!

There's been change on the Sambhaav site - all for good! I had been looking for the change for quite some time as the site badly needed a make-over.

This gives me an opportunity to explore Google Blogger more deep within and I find the changes at google end too.

Since quite some years, I wished I could change the name 'sambhaav.blogspot.com to something like 'random notes' and here's Google offering ftp updates to my own domain or just transferring to a new domain name through Google Partner for $10. This means, the readers can follow my all time notes to the new domain I choose.

Till I make the changes, keep following the blog or just drop in, pass by or say hi at Kidsfreesouls.com - And here's a small quote that says:

I was amazed to see the Times of India, front page news with headline "Modi chalks out cyber war with e fans'. Now, this is just news piece! I confidently can chalk out on some points as I was present at the meeting with Hon CM Narendrabhai Modi and other e-fans and those involved in the making of his website and fan sites.

Well, I would not like to speak more on this but you can read on Desh Gujarat blog which has a reporting on the same. One thing that sure would be interesting as put up in the meeting that Google should start Adsense for Gujarati websites and blogs as more and more Gujaratis round the world have entered this phase.

CM Narendra Modi's foresight on technology and Internet is amazing and he seems to have deep sense of awareness on issues that need priorities and has a vision for a goal with determination, dedication and hard work.

Enhance Gujarati word Power. I couldn't ever speak better Gujarati but being among many Gujarati bloggers, I have a chance to sneak in and peek a boo into the gujarati language and dictionaries that ever give me a clarity of the language.

GMC Foundation day and felicitations to veteran journalists

GMC - Gujarat Media Club honoured twelve veteran journalists of Gujarat at a special function organised on Saturday, 28th March 2009 at Karnavati Club. The felicitations were a part of the foundation day of GMC who gave honourary membership and shawl. The function was attended by a large number of Senior IAS and IPS officers, Former Union Minister and many more people. 12th March - A day that leaves memories on mind! My Dad who was born on this day and Gandhiji began the Dandi March. But, as a journalist I ever fondly remember the birthday of a newspaper 'Sambhaav' and my first Management article I had placed in print media on this day. Dada, and the name brings in a smile on the face and whenever I see him, almost words take a form of 'silence' - an inspiration of a leader among the many, who made me achieve my goals.

Why Men don't Listen and Women can't Read Maps was a wonderful book and so was Body Language. So, I couldn't resist a pick of this book 'Why men lie and Women cry'! Main reason was the book title that bring a twitchy smile upon the face and second reason was that it's been a great gifting Allan & Barbara Pease's unique Books which delights the reader. The first chapter says on How to Give a Book as a Gift, too. Third reason for this pick is that the book is a must on the Bookshelf as it gives practical, easy digestible advice for better relationships. The book is so hilarious, answering the common questions that arise in minds about the attitude of men and women in general. Some of the points covered on back flap are:

1. Why are men confused about love
2. Why do men avoid commitment
3. Why do men feel women nagging around
4. Why don't women ever get to the point
5. Why do men love high heels on women and women love men with small tight bums?

Unique Stadium in Ahmedabad

Rain Proof Stadium for Ahmedabad - Good news, isn't it? India's first Sports and Entertainment complex is under development with completion period by 2010. It will have around 33000 permanent seats, a cable supported retractable roof which would be operational by a mere push of a button and the structure to be decorated with art. The State govt. MoUs with a London based company and this stadium will include a football ground and an entertainment arena at the cost of Rs.200 crore.

I hear, the facilities are 'All Purpose' - Sports and just sports with Entertainment too! I wonder, is Cricket to be as 'Top Game' or is Football (soccer) to be major attraction now as most of the Cricketers are busier as ever with ADs and social campaigns. Anyways, this is indeed a good move and we do look forward for our Youth to be more Sports buff than just having fun frolicking around.

Indeed, Gujarat is changing for good and the difference is just seen and will be more felt in coming years. Why even filmstars like Priety Zinta hopes that CM Narendra Modi becomes the PM of India!

Minister for Women and Child Welfare, Govt. of Gujarat), Ms. Tanvi Vyas, (Femina Miss India Earth-2008-2009) and Ms. Aishwarya Majmudar, (Winner-Amul Voice of India.)

Being 'International Girl Child Day' today (24th Jan), the Minister spoke on the various aspects to save girl child and focused on healthy moms for healthy child. She weighed stress on Literacy and was concerned that 40% girls were illiterate and more efforts can be made by educated people to devote their contribution to spread literacy. Tanvi Vyas aspired to be an Entrepreneur herself and make her place among the women who scale to top as Business women. Well, I just read about the Print media journalism : "What if The New York Times goes out of business -- like, this May? It's certainly plausible. Earnings reports released by the company in October indicate that drastic measures will have to be taken over the next five months or the paper will default on some $400 million in debt."

I just read a quote on my desk - "To use punctuation marks on paper is easy but can you put a full stop to waste thoughts?" Ponder....When do you get waste thoughts? It's like, "An idle mind is a devil's workshop" - And when do this devil work? Only when idle? I don't think so. Devils keep working round the clock - at workplace when there's someone superior than you and you are a big 'J" - when you have the inferiority complex, when you are poorer than the rich ...when ...when...Maybe that's the reason the young terrorist had the devil in him to risk his life....But, there goes a thought in mind 'What makes a human think terror, why they become criminals...

Whatever be the reason, here's Anti Terrorism Lesson Plans - We want our young generation to be more wiser and face the world terror free. We need to stop the Hatred and Anger, learn tolerance and spread peace. Stop crime and stop kids to be criminals.

I hear groups of people gathering to light candles on Mumbai Terrorism and invites on Facebook reveals that some of them have taken a fancy to go for multiple social causes as an Activity! And it has almost become a happy program for children to draw and paint terrorism - Do we want our kids to come to class and tell us exitedly that, "I did a Taj drawing with bombs and terrorists and it was fun!" So many competitions I've taken so far but never, ever did I think that one can organize a competition on topics like Terrorism or peace! Yes Indeed, Ahmedabad is changing!

As terror strikes once again with a date 26, it is with deep agony to realize the state of a nation in doldrums who can't face crisis management! Shattering to see the truth, it saddens our hearts as we see continual terror reigning supreme to bring havoc. Who could be the souls behind this? Whoever, but the attacks were primarily aimed at the foreigners! We cannot go deep into terror mayhem but here's Fareed Zakaria's views on who they can possibly not be - not a Deccan Mujahideen nor Al Quaeda! He says, "My sense is that for the last several years, the core of Al Qaeda—Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri—has been very weak. This seems more like a Kashmiri, Lashkar kind of thing."

Well, as New York Times adds a story today on Narendra Modi and Political shifts, here to watch for political wave this crisis may India's political landslides. He had a key to every heart - His Shayaris and gazals with Love mixed to vibrate our souls. Adilbhai Mansuri has left for heavenly abode. I deeply feel the loss of a colleague who drifted with time to far away lands and space built in a gap of years as I only thought of but actually could not make it up to meet him! A renuion of AGK, Adilbhai and finding lost traces of Vora, Pritam, Shah, Srini, Venkat, Guru, Murugesan, Kaushik and all at Shilpi Advertising still lingers away. Well, Diwali has really been too unfair to bring me over news of four deaths of people whom I knew and could not make it up to meet them. Sometimes, we can never make it up, so happens!
